Thought Scholes was spot on last night with his assessment of Arsenal.. never liked the :censored: as a player, and to be honest haven't heard him interviewed too often but last night he spoke the truth, normally the pundits are only too happy to wade into Arsenal big time but they usually begin by a patronising oratory about the good side of Arsenal , the football we play etc etc.. Scholes was speaking , perhaps too freely and honestly, for a pundit. Hard to listen to it from an ex Man Utd player who obviously has no love for Arsenal but equally obviously has respect for the challenge Arsenal put up to their domination in 1998-2004 era.
In his summing up of City's title aspirations later in the programme his fear for them was losing Kompany, again in a blunt honest assessment he said that Lescott wasn't up to it. How many of the cliche merchants would dare say that about an English player ?

Maybe unsold seats in the 'Young Guns' enclosure for teenage Junior Gunners?

Perhaps the tourists decided to take in a show instead after our poor showing against Chelsea?
it does make you wonder if it was a block booking that had given their tickets back.
It was odd though - I have seen whole rows empty before but never 2 whole rows clearly cordoned off and a marshall sat at either end to make sure no one sat in them - they were in a prime position right behind the Clock End goal.

I felt a bit sorry for the supporters sat at the top of the upper tier who could have sat there instead.
Were they high up? It might be for health and safety reasons in case Sanogo comes on as a sub.

The lack of width was terrible. That's what you get for playing 5 central players, and in Sagna having a Rb who is too scared to even try and beat a defender. It wasn't until Gibbs remember he is rapid off the mark and Podolski brought a bit more directness that we scored by exploiting their right flank.

The importance of width varies from team to team but you cannot have zero width, otherwise the opposition can just sit deep and narrow and force you out wide where there's no threat. Swansea are hardly the first team to do that to us. We had Gnabry sitting on the bench and even the option of Chamberlain offering pace and willingness to run at defenders, one of them at least should have played wide.

And as I've said before having a striker whose only movement is either showing feet or occasionally make a run into the channel asking for an impossible ball to a position of little threat makes it so much easier for the opposition defence to close ranks. Sanogo is a donkey but at least he pulls and stretches them a bit.

Not a single ripple of THERE'S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER from Block 2 or anywhere else last night (apart from maybe in Swansea itself)

At the end I actually heard 3 separate cries of Wenger Out from the very same block which was all the more amusing given I was with the old man, who responded with tuts and groans about "typical modern day fan" :D

Perhaps I was wrong after all and will need to destroy my impressive collection of meat products. Rodders' wet dream of There's Only One becoming There's Only None at the end of the season could be coming true.......not much love for him in the once brainwashed windowlickers' corner. Perhaps the Chavs have started to bring about the beginning of the end?

It looks like an open revolt is brewing. Definitely a lot more Gooners willing to say they want change.

I know some are beyond help but a lot of on the fence types have fallen into camp WOB.

When the likes of Paddy Barclay are questioning There's Only One the end can only be nigh. If my old man becomes a reverse 'turncoat wanker' then Wenger might as well switch the lights off (although there is still no immediate sign of that day coming). Apparently the ref giving the foul against Podolski was to blame for Swansea's undeserved equaliser

We sat next to each the whole match but if you heard our different accounts of the match you'd have thought we were on different planets :D

In fairness Steve, when we read your accounts of Diaby's few games, most of us on here think you are on a different planet! :-P

positives from last night:

1. we didn't lose
2. I managed to get a lower tier ticket so only had to pay £25 (i really feel sorry for those forking out category A prices so they can watch the same players get stuffed by City on Saturday)
3. I had a nice pie from Piebury Corner

and that just about sums up where I am with Arsenal at the moment - I am watching a poor to average team just like I did when i first started watching the club back in the early 80s and a few beers/food before hand makes it a nice evening/day if you dont expect too much from the team.
However of course watching modern day Arsenal isnt that simple and opportunities to see them play for £25 are few and far between. If I could pay £25 for every match I probably wouldnt moan and be more accepting as I was in the 80s but often the tickets are more, much more. And the quality gets worse and worse. Very depressing.
