Man City Community Shield

- I thought Szczesny had a good game. He was really taking responsibility for his box. He's been working on his kicking, too. He seems to finally be able to clear the halfway line!
- Debuchy looked pretty good going forward. Very good crosser of the ball and seemed to link up well with Alexis.
- Chambers looks a quality footballer. Still young and very raw, he will need time to settle in. But I like what I see so far.
- Gibbs had a decent game.
- Wilshere and Arteta had solid games.
- Aaron fucking Ramsey.
- Cazorla looked to be his quality, talented self and Alexis looked lively. What I find most promising about The Dirty One is that defences (based off of what I saw from City) will be shit scared of him. Once he gets a bit more match sharpness, I'm sure he is going to be something else.
- Sanogo, not for the first time, caused absolute mayhem in their defence a few times.
- We've got some fucking pace back in the team!

Negatives:

- Nacho Monreal at centre back is something we're going to have to deal with this season.
- While promising; Chambers does seem a little on the slow side.
- Sanogo is not a professional footballer. Sorry, but everything he does feels completely random.
- ...and he definitely ain't the answer to the DM conundrum.
- Wilshere still has not cut out the perpetual going to ground at the slightest touch.
- I think we're a long way off being physically ready for the season.
Ozil was invincible today

Can I remind you that we beat City a week before the season started last year as well

Good to see Pat Rice looking healthy and presenting the shield as well.

Didn't take BT commentator long to quote how we have gone 9 years without winning it though :banghead: :banghead:

Thought we looked good, plenty of energy, got forward to support the attacks well, without leaving ourselves too overexposed.

Thought Alexis is going to be class, got caught once or twice dwelling on the ball and picking the wrong option but he is going to benefit hugely from Ozil's defence splitting passes.

Also word up (do you youngsters still say that ? ) to Sanogo, who despite being shite played a good part today and caused City problems.

Debauchy looked good ( I've never really taken much notice of him for Newcastle ) and loved his 2 tackles in 5 secs that left 2 different City players floored - more of that please.

Chambers also continues to impress and also Gibbs looked much more physical today and got tighter to his man a lot quicker, which I like to see as all too often we give opponents wingers far too much time / space.

Happy bunny (still only a pre-season friendly) but things are looking good right now, new signing in a day or two to keep the feelgood factor running please :)

Ramsey is still class :barscarf:

usual moronic flip flopping gooners.

we are going to win the league cos we beat a half interested city in a mickey mouse meaningless game.

ffs. when will you people learn. the major issues still havent been addressed. until they are we wont chellenge.

sure we may lead the table a squirk of the fuxtures for a lengthy spell again but come squeaky bum time we wont be in the mix.

this result just convinces the clown in charge the squads good enough and gets the flip floppers off his back for afew months.

in isolation a nice result but city were beaten in preseason last year.

people have such short memories.

sanchez is a quality signing and chmabers could be, but realistically we are 1 first team starter better than last year..sanchez...we still have giroud leading the line and flaminin and arteta as the dm.

until a quality dm is signed and a back cb and if we are being properly realistic, a better striker than giroud and sanogo we aint going to be troubling the big boys.

i cant take omfort from this result as i know as well as all of you deep down it will mean we do not address the DM or CB issues

I hope you told her it was to do with her getting her knockers out for you every time we score. I hope you told her it was a tradition and all women have to do it.

on Chambers challenging Mertesacker…
Arsene Wenger wrote:He can challenge both centre backs and that's what you want. You cannot play with two centre backs the whole season; that means he will play. You saw Monreal who played one or two games at centre back and he did well.
on where Alexis will play…
