As bad as we were there is now a real issue with time wasting in our games. Once they scored I would say there was 5 minutes of football played in the remaining 20 minutes. Toney went down three times with non injuries and was allowed. Ben Mee did the same and there were others. Raya took 10 minutes out of the game on his own by fucking around over goalkicks and any free kick in their half. The referee just watched on and allowed it. There was also the obligatory contrived handbags at the end when someone went through Zinchenko. That was another few minutes which ate the clock away. The ref just added 5 minutes and let it go on. It’s becoming a joke and is clearly coached. It’s an art form. We need the World Cup timekeeping back because it’s destroying the game.

We're getting to the stage where the clock has to stop every time there's a stoppage so we all know when 90 minutes is up. It's getting worse every week. This holding your head and going down shit is horrendous and has to be dealt with.

City play in between mate. We’ll be 2nd by 10pm on Wednesday. I’ll have money on it with you. We were a shadow of ourselves today.

It will all come to a head, no pun intended, when a player is clean through and about to score but someone rolls on the floor with a head injury and the ref either stops it or doesn't and it will cause outrage. If it goes against Manure or the bindippers or the Saudis it will be the end of the world.

Funnily enough it might actually suit us better to play city next rather than yet another deep block, kick and rush, set piece team.

There is no justification for Martinelli to start games ahead of Trossard now, he’s been awful for months. The gulf between him and Saka widens by the week and Saka’s worst game in our last 10 was still better than Martinelli’s best.

Bring Martinelli on for the final 20 against tiring legs and see if he can somehow play himself back into form.

Saliba was destroyed today, partly because Toney is a handful and a very good player but more worryingly it looked like he wasn’t up for the fight after being bullied in the first few 50/50s. He got rag-dolled for the free kick that led to the goal and then inexplicably didn’t jump to compete for a header as the ball pin balled around the penalty area. Really poor.

The lack of options off the bench when teams park the bus is killing us. Jesus being missing for so many games is a huge loss obviously as is Smith Rowe who seems to be permanently crocked. Vieira offers fuck all, such a massive disappointment.

The early kick off Saturday up at Villa especially as it will be our 3rd game in 7 days has dropped points written all over it meaning the game against city is now bordering on being a must win.

Lose against city and Don Unai and we could go into complete free fall, Wednesday is season defining.

Their goal was offside multiple times in the same move. Just seen the replay of it. Shameful from VAR.

Totally agree with what others have said about the scourge of time wasting that’s allowed to go unpunished by the way.

I only got to see the final 7 minutes last week at Everton plus the 6 minutes of injury time and in those 13 minutes I reckon the ball was in play for a maximum of 4.

Same today with players going down pretending to be hurt or faking head injuries yet there were only 5 minutes added on.

You should have to stay off the pitch for 5 minutes and be assessed by the medical team if you go down with a head injury. That way the cheating would stop straight away and the genuine cases could be immediately subbed off (as they should anyway). It would put a stop to it overnight.

It’s all very small margins - we could have easily been held by United the other week, we could have easily hung on today.

4 points from those 2 matches is a decent return.

Trossard is a big positive for us - now get behind the team for Wednesday :barscarf:

This obsession with Jesus being the answer for us up front is not going to end well. He is not a 20 goal a season EPL striker, that is why City got rid. He hadn't scored for 9 games before he got injured, so why is he now going to be our rescue guy?? Somebody said last week that he'll create chances for others??? So, our target man, our main striker is needed, not to score goals, but to create chances for the same players who cannot score now :? :? Everybody is a great player when they're injured. He is a small player with great feet, good in tight spaces. But we already have two of those....Trossard and Odegaard. Imo, he is an option, probably first choice over Eddie, but I would not expect him to be winning us games week in, week out.

I cannot remember when last Martinelli went past his man
Ben White should not be at RB. What is the point of going on the overlap if you cannot cross the ball??
Eddie should not be the target man for a Top 6 club, never mind one chasing a title.
Xhaka is............well he's Xhaka.
Viera and Jorghino are utter crap. That final free kick embodies Viera.

Our real problem is when we are struggling there are no game changers on the bench. Wtf is going on with ESR, is he our new Wilshire????

I think we will be better against City. We have ALWAYS struggled against teams that line up on the edge of their box. Especially big imposing one's. Imo, we have to score first against City. Go a goal down and I see heads dropping.
