THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wenger at least picked the right team, and picked players for the right formation.

As far as tactic go, he didnt do anything wrong. He started with Coquelin and Xhaka, and brought in Ramsey and Giroud off the bench, rather than start with them.

No point hating on him mid season.
haha we are already down to 4th and are tough matches ARE JUST STARTING!
and look we all know Giroud and Ramsey are not going to add anything so we need to make sure we are winning before they come on!!

And yes, we do have a chance. To write off winning the league this year is silly.

I cant stand fans who odnt have the stomach for the fight, and shit themselves unless they win every game 3-0, and cannot remain calm unless 10 points clear at the top. Fuk sake, its not going to be easy for any club, and that includes us. Look at the table, 2 points separates 1st-4th. This is how its oging to be all season, and I suggest if you cant handle it, go watch darts.
haha i hadnt even read the rest of your post. This is comedy gold.

these are the comments that have been trotted out now for TWELVE years in a row.
and we always fail and never learn - spot the common problem. we have Wenger as manager.

look at what Klopp has done for Liverpool WITHIN TWO YEARS!

Look Wilson if you have changed your stance or decided over the summer that you want to be more positive that is up to you. But that doesn’t mean that we are all ''thick'' or not up for the fight ( ) if we do not follow your lead or agree with you.

I thought you were a decent poster last season and I don’t wanna get too personal but you are becoming increasingly pompous and superior with your posts.

Wilson was pretty much sussed earlier this season when he tried using semantics to mask his about turn. I can live with the turn, but he can sod off with acquired piety.

Also, he's become too much of a spud sympathizer for an alleged gooner. It's a suspect mix trying to prop up wenker and the spuds simultaneously. Another sod off for attempting to admonish us about his stance on the vermin.

Nothing ever changes with Wenger, he has 2 or 3 good games where his selection 'seems' to work, the team 'seems' to fire but then it's back to planet Wenger with a bump and the excuses begin to roll, 12 years and counting :banghead:

So how do you feel about supporting a team that doesn't have the stomach for the fight and shit themselves every time they have a chance to go top??

And we won't win the league, not because of the fans, because of the manager!!

Havent changed on Wenger. Its simple, he either wins the PL or CL, or he goes. Moreover, some of his management decisions have been shocking over the years gone by.

But I just dont have the time or energy to be one of those self-loathing Gooners anymore. Im going to support Arsenal so long as we are within distance at the top. If there comes a time, when we have drifted so far of the pace the league is impossible, then ill join you all in constant Wenger bashing, just like last season.

So my policy is still the same to most of you, I just have a different mindset. I think their is cause for optimism as this is our best squad since 2005.

I too used to get infuriated when others would imply we should be thankful for simply finishing in the top 4, and that 'we had no right to compete for the league', by blood used to boil at such a falsehood, as yes, I think Arsenal fans should expect to compete for the league'. However, I must admit, I am growing tiresome of those lamenting our current position. We havent lost since the opening day, and are unbeaten in all competitions in 16 matches. We are well and truly in the title race, whilst we also have good chance of topping our CL group ahead of PSG.

Therefore, is it that bad that some posters want to love football again and get on board with the team this year? My position on Wenger has not changed, however, I have made a conscious decision to change my mindset, and take an optimistic approach, so long as we remain in competitive positions. Doesnt mean im a Wenger lover, or closet Spurs fan.

As far as some of my strong responses to some fellow posters, well its mainly in response to be called a AKB or closet Spurs fan.

Wenger has been here 12 years without winning the PL and CL, he ain't going anywhere.

I support the team but as far as optimism goes there have been too many false dawns. The warning signs are already there, we have had 3 big games at home (Scousers, Chelsea and the vermin) and failed on two of them.

Didn't you post on an Arsenal site about how much you admire Sp*rs and then gloat about it after Sunday? That really is not going to go down well.

I know in recent seasons optimism has been replaced by cold hard failure.

But really, whats the point of getting wound up over Wenger, when his time isnt going to come to and an end mid season.

Won't seem to matter if we're not within distance at the top! :D
