THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Im with Stevo Wengers a pure genius . His half time talk to get them to put even less effort into the second half after a first half i which both sides appeared to be in a catatonic state was awe inspiring.

Love the way all he wanted to talk about after the game was his genius at making the substitutions that brought on Giroud and the Ox - like it was anything but the usual pre-planned sub on the 70th minute...

Does anyone know the story behind the 70 minutes sub rule?

Is it 'sports science' or id there a alleged theory behind it.

Its not just a running joke anymore. It literally is the case, that Wenger will not make a sub until the 70th minute. Even if we are dominated and under the pump for 70 minutes (as we were against United). Nothing happens until the 70th minute.

Allegedly it started because some players' deals specified if they played more than 20 minutes we had to make further payments to their previous club... allegedly...

Obviously we don't know whether the above is true or not but with each passing season it surely must have some truth in it. This is going to sound ridiculous given the amount of areas Wenger has been blind to in the past, but surely he could see the changes that needed to be made in that game. Everyone around me was saying they are gonna score in a minute and calling for Wenger to make the change and then bang they score. Literally no matter what happens unless its an injury he will not make changes before 70 mins. It cant just be down to his ineptitude there has to be more to it.

I honestly think he sits there like a rabbit caught in the headlights...frozen .....hoping something will happen in his favour......just hold out till around 70 mins and i will bring on Giroud and chamberlain...thats it...
They were suffering so badly if it was a boxing match it would have been stopped on points....he offers no leadership...no tactical nous....fuck only knows what he says in team talks...if anything at all that is....he is a clueless fraud

when they play really poorly apparently his reactions nothing...does not speak about it...just gives them a day off...is that what he earns his £8.9 million a year for??

nice work if you can get it........

As frustating as Wenger is, I think its only fair that we do something to acknowledge his 20 years at the club. In fact I'm thinking of writing to the guys at Untold Arsenal and asking them to produce a mug to commemorate his 20 years at the club.

Perhaps something in red and white with the words UNTOLD WENGER on it?
