THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I see Mourinho is having another rant about Wenger not winning the title for 12 years yet everybody is putting so much pressure on him after barely 12 weeks blah,blah.......

He's bang on of course but because it's coming from him you don't want to agree. I find him to be the most toxic, obnoxious manager in the league and his obsession with Wenger kinda disturbing . Tbh I think he is one of the few outsiders who are absolutely baffled, that in an industry where managers are under relentless pressure to deliver and get fired at will, Wenger is totally exempt from it. As baffled as we all are obviously.

Agreed 100%. I despise moron-hio even more than I want Wenger gone and I ALWAYS want Wenger (or anybody really) to get one up on Moron-hio.

Moron-hio is right though, it is almost unbelievable what Wenger gets away with, but then I just think "Moron-hio, you are a whore's infected vagina, so fuck off". 8)

Ah our lord with some more gold this morning... :barscarf:

on how important it is to finish top of Group A…
I read this morning that Real Madrid are not sure whether it’s good to finish first or second! The problem is that if you finish second and get a bad draw, everybody says, ‘that’s your fault’. You want to finish first, knowing that. Is there an actual difference? I don’t know in a group of Real Madrid or Dortmund. The other groups might look at ours and think, ‘Paris Saint Germain or Arsenal - who is better? I don't know’.

For starters would you prefer to tactically face off against a manager that has won 2 European trophies in the last two seasons, or a manager that has NEVER won a European trophy of any kind ?

Is it 'sports science' or id there a alleged theory behind it.

Its not just a running joke anymore. It literally is the case, that Wenger will not make a sub until the 70th minute. Even if we are dominated and under the pump for 70 minutes (as we were against United). Nothing happens until the 70th minute.
It's rumoured to be due to extra payments for players if they play over a certain amount of match time. Sounds like rank stupidity from the club, if true.

It's also probably due to the fact that it's just over 75% of the match time. TOF must have OCD. I don't see why he shouldn't do it on 60 minutes, or 55 minutes. The predictability of 70 minutes is so annoying, seeing as our subs either don't do enough - needing longer than 20-25 minutes to get into the game, or do so much that we should have brought them on earlier, especially if we're chasing the game.

Then there's the fact that the substitutions are pre-planned anyway, which is scandalous in itself.

And he is bang on, sad to say.

I know others hate him here. I think Mourinho is either going through a long bad patch, or has passed his peak. Still, I actually like that he shines a light on TOF; even if the press ignore it and protect TOF anyway. It's actually reassuring that someone in football sees the fraud for what he is. Plus, it proves we're not all mad on here

It seems inevitable we will be fucked out of the Be All and End All in the first knockout round as usual. First or second doesn't matter. We seem destined to be the whipping boys of the last 16 under TOF, no matter what :banghead:

Which is why we thought we should branch out and upward by a few notches and root out every pun we could find and plant them on here.
