Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
I will be pleasantly surprised if we sign him by mid July.
lets hope Wenger can use him more effectively that he did with Ozil last season.

Okay, so I'm not going to outright say that Dirty Sanchez isn't coming. But I'll still be surprised if he does. I've been burned too many times before.

Le-Grove has his validation now....http://le-grove.co.uk/2014/07/09/cesc-w ... more-19382
I like reading his blog but his announcement a few weeks back stating that we were about to sign a big player seemed to be a bit of bs tbh - now we have almost signed sanchez, he is using it to say that I told you so but nobody will know if that was the player he was talking about back then. As good a player as sanchez is, I dont for one second feel that he is a better signing than cesc would have been, and reus would have been a much bigger signing imo.

I have to admit to looking that up to see what it meant

LOL this forum. We sign Ozil. I call him a panic signing from day one and I get hounded out. We sign Sanchez and we (or more accurately- you lot) are downplaying it when he is exactly what we need. You cant make this crap up.

Not surprising, really.spendsum4uckingmoney wrote:LOL this forum. We sign Ozil. I call him a panic signing from day one and I get hounded out. We sign Sanchez and we (or more accurately- you lot) are downplaying it when he is exactly what we need. You cant make this crap up.
For me at least, it's a defence mechanism

The guy's shit, not that it matters because we won't get him anyway

I'd hope they'd change their tune when/if it's officially announced.

Me too

Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
Curious as to where he fits in seeing as he's not a natural goal scorer, something we definitely need and have needed since Wrighty left us.
We got away with it with Terence because between him and DB10, we were blessed with geniuses that clicked. But neither were natural goalscorers.
Ratboy is,Falcao most definitely is,Villa is but not many others that are.
Now if you said we'd signed Falcao to play in front of a trio of Ozil,Walcott And Cazorla, then I'd jizz in my pants.
Sanchez is a great player but he is not an out and out striker. We need one or our goals scored to chances created ratio will always be ridiculous.

Not a natural goalscorer when he came but Henry had all the attributes to become one. Which he did, fairly quickly. Fantastic all-round player but his movement and finishing were predatory.

Re: SUMMER 2014 TRANSFER THREAD
I confess to knowing little about Sanchez (apart from the fact he wears his shorts like simon cowell wears his trousers, waaay to high
).
So I had a quick check on last seasons stats (yeah, yeah, I know
).
Last season, from 36 games of Premier League action, Giroud returned 16 goals from 112 shots - a conversion rate of one goal every seven attempts.
Alexis Sanchez fares considerably better in this department as he scored 19 from 66 - or one goal for every 3.4 shots.
The Frenchman is twice as wasteful in front of goal than Sanchez, whose shots to goal conversion statistic is extraordinarily high.
Anyhow, he seems like he might actually be a good finisher.
