How did contract negotiations reach the level, that Jenkinson was offered 45K a week? Surely if the club had offered him 20K a week he would have accepted it. We got him from Charlton after all, obviously we vastly improved his wages.

yeah trouble is these guys stay put and wind down there contract...no one else will pay them the same salary
Wenger pays top dollar for their loyalty....it's like he's running an orphanage for young boys. Not even the Chinese would pay Walcott 100k pw. Wenger gives him 140.

That's not a bad wedge for just training, he don't even have to travel up north or anything as he's never in the match day squad.
Add in Mertsackershit, Sanogoals (wherever he is) Gibbs, with Carzola and we must have £250, 000 -£300,000 a week literally wasted on non-playing members of staff.

Even on £45k a week it's absolutely crazy money for zero return. We really really need to go back to the old apprenticeship system. Make the yoofs clean boots, clean the dressing room, clean the showers - all on a livable wage. And then, and only then, when they have actually EARNED the right, we look at promoting them and increasing their pay.
