The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Bet Mata and Higuian's hairdo experts also thought they were joining us.
I'm more than slightly amused by the Gooners who think we are getting Khedira. They base their wishful thinking on the facts that 1) he plays very well with Ozil and 2) he's just what we need.
1 and 2 are correct, but they've forgotten 3) he costs too much money for the Beach Footballer to contemplate.

Well apparently he demands 150K per week so actually he probably does cost too much money...Also Wenger spent 42 mil on Ozil and looks like 30 mil on Sanchez. Im no Wenger fan but he actually is spending some money

Bet they were hoping their new false God would bring some of his Southampton players with him. Instead they've ended up going to Liverpool and United, would be funny if we then signed Schneiderlin

On a serious note don't think we're in the market for a DM. Arteta is one of his favourites and he aint gonna bomb Flamini out after a season. We've left ourselves enough to do with signing defenders and a keeper.

Italian side preparing a £3million bid for the Spanish midfielder who has only 12 months left on his contract

Fiorentina are considering making a £3million bid to try to take Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal midfielder, to Italy.

I would trade Arteta as he isn't fast enough for the premiership anymore unless as a back up.
I think there's a lot of trading to be done ,ins and outs Arteta, Poldi, Cazola are the likely outgoing players !
Incoming well we have 2 done and 1 coming it would seem although if Sanchez deal is dependent on Saurez then we may have a long wait as Barca are trying to pay for him on the never never but get cash for Sanchez !

I don't rate khedira and I have said so before, but I have to say that against a (shite) brazil side he looked very impressive - that being said, I wouldn't have him in the top 5 earners if we signed him much less the top earner

Schneiderlin would be a very good signing for us...could convert him to hold the mid-field...as for Arteta - everyone knows his legs have gone....time to get rid...which is why I am hoping one of the spanish or italian clubs will come in for him....the pace of their leagues not being as fast & frantic as the prem can be.

lets hope so.i love the bloke, but past it now, been a great emergency stop gap since fab left, seems even more bizarre not to buy cesc back if we are gonna off load tets.he'd have been a great signing about 5 years earlier

He's happy at Arsenal and going nowhere according to Sky. I'm more inclined to believe what they say on the Sky report but anything can happen in football as we well know.

I am just guessing but maybe he doesn't think there is any point in having him play holding midfielder when he's not one. An upgrade in players unsuitable for a position would seem pointless but then that's just me.
