Although that's very true i don't think that is the main concern with signing Dann...Nos89 wrote:rigsby wrote:I'm a big Dann fan. Unfortunatley a lot of people look at the club instead of the player.
True it has been pointed out that birmingham were relegated because of Dann's absence through injury in the last 3 months of the season. As someone may have said Bould was a CB in the worst side ever to play in the top division Stoke 1984, 14 points from 42 games. He didn't turn out too bad, but wenger hasn't got graham's eye in spotting talented defenders, which is where the concern lies.
The main concern is that this is the usual bollocks of trying to save money to the detriment of the team...He makes a few half hearted attempts at signing players who appear to be of or near the calibre we should be looking at and are well within our financial clout and then goes and buys someone of a lesser calibre for peanuts...
The routine is getting so very old and the pretence that there is anything other than saving money behind signing the likes of Dann is what angers most.. Not any particular objection to the player himself, who i'm sure will be a decent option, just not as good as what we need, could have and should have...

SteveO 35 wrote:Meanwhile Liverpool continue to show their ambitions for this season. Enrique's on his way there from Newcastle - a proven PL left back and one that we could easily have signed for virtually the same cash we got from Clichy
Still we've got that ever reliable Gibbs and the reserve left winger as cover
Absolutely, amd the only thing that could possibly excuse Arsene from being at the front of the queue for Enrique for £5.5m, would be if we have Baines lined up (and I mean signed sealed and delivered not just entering negotiations or putting in a first bid - as we all know how that usually turns out)
Compared to last season our key area's
Goalkeeper
no experienced quality keeper to push Schezeny / Fabianski further. Alumina still here (UNCHANGED)
Defence
Clichy departed - no great loss perhaps but not replaced, Jenkinson in with no experience at all. (WEAKER)
Midfield
Captain and creative focus of the team set to depart along with one of our best dribblers and player most likely to have a shot from distance worthy of the name. (WEAKER) Oh and Denilson gone too

forwards
Gervinho, Ox and Myachi in to cover for the impending loss of Bendtner means that this area is stronger than last season (IMPROVED)
How can the great one (fraud) think that by not addresssing last seasons deficiencies in defence and the defensive side of midfield but compounding this by losing most of our creative talents is going to improve our team ????

Not only is this (the fabregas and nasri saga's) another example of extremely bad handling of the financial business side of the club, but it is Gross Mis-management by Wenger.
He knew fabregas was going this summer and after is poor attempts to Nasri - and the very public argument he and Nasri had last week - He surely knew it was inevitable they were both Gone!
So he should have immediately put in bids for replacements...according to general reports in the media - a club spokesperson
has said all monies from the sale of fabregas will be put into replacements....But what about the money from the sale of nasri 9mercenary *word censored* btw) which will be between £22 and £25 million......
It fuckin' stinks to high heaven of gross incompetence and gross mis-management.....and of profiteering by the club/board
I may not like david dein for some of the things he got up to prior to being sacked ...But at least he knew how to conduct transfers in a very efficient and timely manner.
Gazidis is obviously a hand puppet for the board and their tightwad approach to doing business in the transfer window/s....
So it'll be at least a month before we actually see any new signing/s (that's IF we sign anyone) in an Arsenal shirt....by then we will be fucked over in the prem title race...

Just saw this on BBC Footie page:
" Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon tells BBC Sport's Alistair Magowan the Gunners will be wise to recoup a possible £58m for wantaway players Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. The pair are set to exit the Emirates, leaving boss Arsene Wenger until the end of August to buy in replacements. "You're better off getting £60m for two players who don't want to stay and spending the money wisely," says Dixon. "There is no doubt they are top quality players and they will be missed, but it is important that supporters and everyone at the club remembers that the cannon on the chest is more important than anybody."
Just wish Wenger knew that...coz he is fecking us over BIG TIME!!!

Hope Cesc has phoned his old mate Hleb to ask him which seat on the subs bench is the comfiest, enjoy playing a pivitol role in your Copa del Rey away tie at Benidorm. As for Nasri & he's overwhelming desire to join Citeh, perhaps should have looked at his mates that are already there...Clichy, on the bench, Toure, on drugs, Adebayor, on the dole
