I don't think finishing 6th (which we won't) would make him any more likely to go. When he leaves it will be on the basis that he wants a new challenge or whatever. Not a chance will he walk away if it means implicitly admitting he's not the best man for the job anymore.
Yes. The contract is there. Just exactly the same as 2014 when he waited until we won the cup and announced he was staying on the Wembley pitch.

Welcome as it was to end the drought, that cup win enabled him to "steal" another 3yrs with a straight face. A poisoned chalice.

It wont be quite so easy this time. We're out of the league, we wont win the CL. Good cup run - yes.

I reckon the protests have stung him and opened the eyes a little of others. The difficulty is getting numbers to be proactive. A lot of those who protested before have walked away from the club totally. Apathy and complacency are a huge problem.
But anyway.... its nearly over. He leaves in May, thank God.

This wont be the season and is lined up to be the very same as every other season for us  People were spouting shit about how much better every other top side are this season, and how hard it is gonna be to get top 4 ......it wont be harder - yes there are more teams at the same level, but that level is basically shit, and you wouldn't get a good side if you had the pick of players from us, the victims and manure   I have maintained for a long time that the top 4 is going to be made up of 3 London teams and citeeh, and I see nothing from the victims or manure that has made me change my mind
This 100%. Also cop the fuck on with "this is the season" ffs lads. The fuck it is. We could finish 6th or fucking 10th or even get relegated and he'd still have a job and the board and AKBs and media tits would spout out "who else could turn it round" and "he's earned the right to fix it" etc etc etc. Wenger goes when a Wenger chooses to go.

I know what you are saying DB, but him leaving or staying wasn't the point I was making - my point is that we wont drop out of top 4 cos everyone around us is as shit as we are
I know augie. Sorry, my point was separate to agreeing with you. I've long held that we finish in the CL places every season not because we are so good but because the PL is so poor.

I really hope this season tanks. I mean it, because at the moment, the late season rallies to reach top 4 and regain some respect is nothing more than keeping Wenger on life support. What we really need, is a total tits up end to the season to ensure Wenger flat lines.

The problem with that happening is it'd give Wenger a chance to do everything the following season to get back into the top 4 and make all rosy again and returning us to where we are now.

We've never been relegated period. Us and Everton are the only teams never to have dropped out of the top flight.

And therein lies one of the biggest problems...
Constant underachievement has lowered many of the JCL and tourist fans expectations, we have so many brainwashed fans now it is untrue. Maybe after a couple of seasons of mediocrity they'll fuck off to shitty or the chavs or whoever else happens to be winning trophies.
We may then start to get some normallity back and proper fans starting to return to the fold.

I'm so fucking depressed. So fucking fed up. I feel helpless, trapped in this never ending cycle of SHIT. Wenger signing a new deal will suck the last bit of life out of the thing I have loved so much for my entire life.

It's fucking soul destroying and the fact that so many "experts", fans and ex players tell me otherwise just infuriates me. We're about to lose our best player, season ticket prices are on the rise and the club are going to extend the stay of our has been loser "manager".

How the fuck are they going to spin their way out of that impending shit storm?

Agree 1,000% Rodders.

It feels like the ship is going down and taking all the crew (fans) with it....and all because the one/s at the helm do not have a F'ing CLUE! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

David Walsh, chief sports writer of the Sunday Times, is quite clear today.

The headline "Soft Gunners must get shot of Wenger"

Comments that the players, like most Arsenal supporters, feel the team is going nowhere.

Adds, there is something fundamentally wrong with Arsenal and a Ramsey embodies it. What Ramsey achieved in the Euro's was a stark reminder of what he does not do for Arsenal.

The failure is one of management.

Everton were relegated in 1950 from the first division
