THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Would have loved to have seen that. Neville is a mouthy little shit but Vieira was fucking hard as nails. Would go to any ground in the country and bully the fuck out of them with physicality, athleticism and footballing ability.

During those glory years when we were the better side, all they would try and do was kick us off the park first half hour of every game. Never worked with the likes of Vieira in there, apart from when Mike Riley put in the most biased refereeing performance in PL history of course.

Not true.

Everton have the most combined seasons in total in top flight football but have been relegate - 1931 and 1951

We have not been relegated since we moved to Highbury In 1913, we have played in the 2nd tier at previous grounds.

yes that was pre war when we were still Woolwich Arsenal...since being in the top flight have not been relegated, unlike chelsea, scum and united all relatively recent.....

I can't work out why everyone's losing their shit over Gary Neville?

I fucking despise united from the days we were going toe to toe with them for league titles. I look out for their scores every week and if they drop points I'm ecstatic. I HATE them.

I'm just a common fan and that's how I feel, so how do you think he feels about us having actually been a player during that whole shit storm? Of course he can't fucking stand us, of course he doesn't want Wenger to go, he wants to keep us driven down into the shit with zero hope of ever challenging for the big honours.

Did I want united to sack LVG or Moyes? Did I fuck!! Both those guys deserved 20 year contracts in my book so when that rat faced, manc dickhead who got ran out of Valencia after a dozen games tells you to be careful what you wish for, understand exactly where that bullshit is coming from.

Fuck him...he's a despicable c.unt

Dont think anyone (well me anyway) cared too much what Nevill thought of Wenger.
It was his pompus, arrogant sneering at the guy with the poster. He used his platform as a TV "pundit" to insult him and call him an "idiot"

Hes a paying fan and entitled to have a voice

By and large agree with that, but in saying what he did, he was also defending wenker and claiming that we have no right to call for wenker's head  He spent the previous 90 mins slating our performance and saying that it was the same old Arsenal, but at the same time he totally ignores the man who has overseen the "same old Arsenal" never ending story  Neville (alongside the scouse clown) spend Monday evenings dissecting the tactics of various teams in the weekend games, so you would think that he understands the importance of tactics enough to question wenker's ineptness and unwillingness/incapability to change our tactics :rubchin:  :banghead: :banghead:

Souness and Carragher have caught on. In the past both were happy to prop up Wenger, but you can hear it in their voices - they no longer rate Wenger nor believe him to be good enough. Neville on the other hand is in complete and utter denial.

What I really loathe, is when someone makes up something that is not true just to make an argument. Neville did it again, citing a reason Wenger struggles is because he 'cant go out and spent 200m'. Well for one, Ranieri never spent 200m. Two, Tottenham are ahead of us in the league and they dont spend as much as we do. Although, between Sanchez, Ozil, Xhaka and Mustafi thats 135m on 4 players. Throw in Perez at 16m, Welbeck at 16m, Gabriel, Chambers 15m, Cech 10m Elneny 5m and its over 200m pounds. Thats not even included older signings like Giroud, Walcott, Koscielny, Cazorla ect, your neairng on a sqaud thats cost the club close to 300m pounds.

So not only is Wenger budget very generous and flexible, other managers have won with less resources than Wenger. It shouldnt be allowed to creep into the debate, simply because its not true. If you are going to defend Wenger, then defend him by all means, but dont make shit up.

There's a reason why Neville has changed his tune. Last year he called Wanker "either arrogant or naive" and was getting stuck in. Now, he's going on about him being a great manager. Why this sudden turn around? I reckon it's because Wanker had a moan to the club about the way he was being questioned on the telly and the club got in contact with Sky and whoever else to say that unless the tone was more supportive, the club would make access to players and interviews difficult for them. For the broadcasters, access and information are gold dust. Take it away and they're fucked. Neville knows that this isn't acceptable for the club and he knows Man Utd or Liverpool or Chelsea or whoever else wouldn't tolerate it but yet he tows the line as he has had order from above. Looking at that clip yesterday or him and Quinn and the bindipper sitting there, it was obvious that the other two know Wanker should be fucked off but Neville was having none of it. In fact, he was digging himself further into the bullshit the longer he went on. Somebody should ask him whether he thinks this would allowed at any other club.

I've not read so much drivel for a long time.
Sky pay a lot of money for coverage and the club get a lot of money everytime we are shown. The club will not risk losing money, it is what they love.
