THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

This has changed and it is very very wrong. No wonder Arsene moans about the state of things nowadays...

Or they were so scared of our football ability that they resorted to kicking lumps out of our players in order to stop them playing the beautiful game.

Nowadays they turn up, play their own game and even average / shit teams stifle us or beat us.

A desperate man answers with desperate comments and that is all you hear from Wenger these days. He knows Arsenal have no chance of winning the title or CL, we may win a cup if we have a favourable draw (Bradford!) and avoid the big boys, but basically we start the season going for 4th place and if another club has a good season, we are potentially screwed because the manager has no inclination or desire to change the squad mid-season and is incapable of getting more out of the group of players we have.
From now to the end of the season it is all about money - where will we finish, can we get CL money? That's why Wenger is spending nothing, because he is planning now for NOT qualifying for the CL.

The only people "losing it " are the people on the Online Gooner.
Wenger is in a seemingly sack proof 7 million quid a year job ,he's laughing all the way to the bank.
He barely acknowledges the fans except to chastise us or blame us for poor home form.
People on here get more and more aggravated with every bullshit thing he says but in reality hes been talking shit to the press for 15 years ,I seriously doubt if he even realises how much it upsets you all.
Does the club listen to the fans ,hell no ,if you think they treat us badly think of how they treat shareholders !
You think he or they give a flying fuck, well sadly the answer is no.
In short the wenger train will only leave the station when it wants to and not before.

Exactly Herd - the board will never sack him. I don't think he'll extent his contract but I don't for a minute think he'll be willing to be forced out of the club this summer. Does anybody question whether or not he thinks he's the best man for the kob? He's made it clear that he has no respect for the opinion of the dissident minority, he won't walk away before then because it would be accepting weakness.

I'd love it to be true but he will NEVER go to Madrid, because there is pressure to perform and like a limp dick in a brothel, Arsene doesn't like pressure to perform!! 8)

Mourinho is on £4.2 million a year (including bonuses) so I don't see Inspector Clueless going to a place where he would take a drop in wages And would be lynched by the fans if he went 2 years without a trophy never mind 8! I wish he would just fuck off, but he knows when he's onto a good thing...money for old rope as they say. :banghead:  :cussing:

I would personally welcome a change, to freshen things up and bring some new ideas to the table. whilst i dont want Wenger out as such, I would welcome someone coming in if he was the right man. I dont think we should just change for the sake of change, I think it is a decision that needs to be taken carefully to ensure the right man is brought in. I question just how many top quality managers are out there that are a) available b) willing to leave their club c) actually want to come and manage Arsenal.

I think we shouldnt forget all that Arsene has achieved and done for the club during his tenure and any change should be done in a respectful manner. It should certainly not be done mid-way through the season because not only is that grossly unfair to a man that will go down in the history books as a true Arsenal legend, but will not allow the new manager to have a fresh start, a full pre season and a transfer window to bring some of his own players in.

As far as not spending enough, whilst it is frustrating at times, especially when you see Chelski, Citeh and ManUre splashing the cash, the truth of the matter is we just cannot compete with them financially. Our club is run as a profitable business, which is the way football clubs should be run. I do find Wengers stance of refusing to pay any more than he believes a player is worth in his mind, I think it has been the downfall of many transfer targets in the past but he is a man of principles and always sticks to them.

I also think that Wenger will never be sacked, or even nudged out in a nice way. His transfer dealing and the way he has run the club has made alot of boardmembers very rich men.

Wenger off to Madrid......quickly dust down those Real Fans Have Real Patience banners and take to the streets.

This little rumour will bring out his impassioned supporters once more in the Summer when Mourinho ups sticks and leaves Madrid.

If Wenger has secured the virtual trophy to add to the other trophy of having qualified from the CL group stage 10 years in a row then the contract renewal is even more of a certainty........and remember Rodders & co., who told you all it would happen a year before the event
