THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Still, the Arsenal brand is a big part of Sky's investment, so it makes sense for them to hype us up. The game is purely a business at this stage, after all.

On a separate note, is our link with Allegri the first time we've actively been linked with another manager in the miserable Wenger era? I can't recall another manager being asked if he's taking over. It seems promising, but obviously I'm braced for the worst.
anybody think there's much danger of us winning 13 PL games in a row at th business end of th season like that side?

Don't forget there were four or five teams in the mix about Christmas time and we had a devastating home defeat to one of them Newcastle in a midweek game. How did we react? We went up to Anfield and with ten men for most of the game we played out of our skins and beat them, then went on to drop 6 points in the remaining 21 games.

Reasons to get rid of Wenger:

1. Poor tactician, cannot organise the team according to opposition
2. Regularly humiliated by 'rivals' 6-0 at Chelsea, 8-2 at Man U etc etc.
3. Awful in Europe (6 years in a row knocked out in last 16, probably 7)
4. No longer has midas touch for finding players, other clubs now get the best from France e.g. Kante
5. Very stubborn, clearly not going to change at age 67
6. Majority of fan base now bored of his efforts and want change
7. Fed up of seeing Spurs slowly creep up in our rear view mirror, can't see them now as they are starting to go past us!

Reasons to keep Wenger:

1. Be careful what you wish for (lol??)
2. He gets top 4, though this is much less important in financial terms than it was years ago (possible he won't get it this season anyway)
3. He won trophies 15 years ago
4. Stan Kroenke thinks he's a great manager (actually this should be in the above category!)

I think I know which one wins out..

I think I know which one wins out..

1. Cannot prepare a team for a big game, no motivational qualities
2. First game of the season Bin dippers at Home left us totally exposed defensively
3. Persists with players who do not perform, like Giroud last season when he went 15 games without scoring, and Ramsey this season
4. Very poor in game tacticaly, substitutions look pre planned and often have no impact on the game
5. Even when its obvious to all the team is desperately struggling, frozen unable to make any changes
6. Constantly arguing with 4th Official, why exactly and to what effect no one understands
7. Sends the team out in same formation regardless of the opposition

I notice that the media have been circling the wagons this week, in order to defend Wenger, and lash out at fans, for having the cheek to want him gone. Wenger ass licker John Cross was tweeting about Wenger deserving 'respect' from the fans. I find it funny, that even if you have a banner that says something as muted as "Thanks for the memories, but its time to say goodbye", then your somehow being disrespectful. Respect In the media's eyes, is to either praise Wenger, or shut the fuck up, anything in between, is sacrilege. Funny how this same media, sees zero problem with some of the disrespectful things that Wenger has come out with, in the last few years. What about him telling fans, rather than criticising high ticket prices, they should "Go to the game, and then judge was it worth the price you paid". Last Season, Wenger happily took the board's side when it came to questions arising over extortionate ticket prices, and sat there pontificating to fans, many of whom struggle to afford following the club. None of this, is seen as disrespectful. How about his border line bullying of journalists, who ask him questions, that aren't softballs. The media sets the narrative of Wenger being this great guy, when in reality, he has shown his true colours, many times in the last few years.

He also said at the AGM a few years ago that the dissenters should be happy because the share price had risen !

He didn't seem to understand that people invested emotionally in their club, not just financially like the directors just to make a profit.

Ian Wright has just been on radio 5 saying that he was with Wenger last night, and Wenger told him that his time at Arsenal was coming to an end.

Potentially huge news

If this is true I wonder if part of the deal is that the board will offer him a contract that he turns down?

We can only hope, one thing that worries me about this story is if Wenger told Wright this would he not ask Wright to keep it confidential? One the other hand maybe he did ask Wright to put it out there to gauge reaction as suggested in an above post.

Stop giving me false hope you bastards!

A late season winning run to seal the be all and end all, a few choruses of TO1AW from his disciples at the Bowl and the "reaction" will be sufficiently "gauged" for him to put pen to paper.

Oh fucking hell. Please be true. I fucking really do hope that the *word censored* is fucking off soon.
Has anyone also considered that Ian Wright is admitting to having a gay affair with Wanker. "I was with him last night". Yeah, alright Wrighty, what you do on your own time is up to you, mate.
