THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

That last bit of silverware and chance of proper goodbye was in 2014. He didn't take it.
Then faith gave its last hope and gave us a repeat in 2015. Didn't take that either.
Now even hope lost hope. Of he ever winning the league. Or walking away.

Welcome, mate, but you should lose that optimism as it's bad for your health. And your account on this forum  :barscarf:
Thanks for the welcome!

Winning those cups gives me hope that he can do it again and I remain ever the optimist despite the clear lack of silverware over the last decade or so

The glass is only half full if you started with an empty glass though mate.

I think we can claim to have had a full glass when we left Highbury .... therefore the glass is now half empty : )

For me all that is left is a wet circle on the bar beside the empty glass... :|

Well not really, you can start with a full glass, drink half of it and it'd still be half full

Also, don't forget who filled the glass in the first place!

Don't disagree but surely Wenger has usurped all their achievements?

If he had left in 2007 I'd agree wholeheartedly, but 2 FA Cups apart, the last decade has been a disaster. I still respect him for what he achieved between 1997 and 2006 but he is now a busted flush and offers nothing to the club going forward. We need change.

Not walking away does not take anything away from his past achievements for me, in fact it is admirable that he stuck by the ever increasingly difficult task of competing with the sheikhs and oligarchs play things.

To keep us in the CL for nigh on 20 years is another achievement nobody else could have pulled off IMHO

Forget about those glass fillers, Wenger built a new, better, bigger glass with his bare hands. Despite that, the only silverware he is leaving with is if he steals the cutlery. Release ze handbrake and just Bugger Off!!

Nope. Dead serious. Happy to debate both points further with you as I feel the argument for both is strong
