Tonights performance against an average Roma team after the two wins v championship sides shows nothing really has changed. And that at the end of the season if we finish 4th we would be doing well with the lack of quality we have

To win the FA cup we have to beat Chelsea then Man Utd
In the champions league we have to do the same and add on Barcelona,Liverpool and Bayern. We just aint good enough :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Missed the match live as many of you will be aware (fcuking work  ) but have to say that we were steeped in luck to go through tonight. Wenger can wax lyrical all he likes but imo the biggest factor in us going through was that they had so many players in their line up that were either carrying knocks or were not match fit and when their legs went then we started to gain a bit of control.

Havent had time to read many of the previous 13 or so pages so I dont know who agrees or disagrees with me but I thought that van persie and nasri were an absolute disgrace tonight - most of the team were poor tonight but I thought their effort and workrate was an embarassment to the club and I would have taken both off. It is a sad indictment when he say that bedtner was our most threatening player but the facts were that he was our only attacking threat imo. Clichy had an absolute 'mare and the rest of the back 4 were dire too

Anyway the positives are that we did go through and at the end of the day that is all that matters Maybe it might hinder us in our pursuit of the 4th champs league place in the league but at the end of the day we need the confidence from going through cos this team sometimes look as fragile as a house of cards. Lets all hope for either villareal or porto in 1/4 finals eh ? When is the draw ?

I don't know what the f*ck has happened to Clichy this season, last year he was a revelation, this year he's half the player, he looks like he's lost a yard of pace seems to be in a bit of a dream half the time and his whole general game has gone down a notch.
I hope he's not suffering from the same disease as Ade, the heavy wallet syndrome, it's a bit of a coincidence both he and ade were given new fat contracts during the summer and both have been a shadow of the player they were before those contracts.

Stop the negativity, who fucking cares, WE WENT THROUGH!

Brilliant way to do it, at the end of the day its a cup competition, its a lottery in itself. Next rounds a new bag, so we got luck? so fucking what, its been missing all year. Celebrate the win, fuck analysing

I agree, Rigsby.

We all know this Arsenal side is majorly flawed, but some people just love hammering home the point every week, whether we win, lose or draw.

If you can't find joy out of a penalty shootout win in the European Cup then fuck me, we've become a bunch of spoilt brats.

I'm delighted tonight.... shame many others aren't!

Yes and no. They were no way better than us.

Made this point in the other thread, both were there till the shoot out, Eduardo 30 mins worth, nonchalantly missed his penner.

I can't see a positive unless Cesc and Rosicky both start the next tie. And now Wenger has more ammo to believe in this team amd these players.

I really agree with this. I can see what little we have collapsing after one high profile defeat.

There is a big difference between the two.

Clichy has worked very hard during games, never stops running, and is suffering from poor form rather than lack of effort.

I don't think it's just poor form Quartz, earlier in the season i thought it may have been a knock on effect from having sub standard players in the team and the team as a whole losing confidence due to that, but it's more than that there is just something fundamentally different about his whole game, i'm not suggesting he's not putting the effort in on the pitch, but i am beginning to think he's not putting it in on the training pitch, or maybe he has changed his lifestyle now that he thinks he has made the big time and that is effecting his game, it's not unusual for this to happen to young players once they think they have made it.

It wasn't pretty and over the two legs none of the teams deserved to go through more than the other. It's hard to feel as happy about it as we should aftera perfomance like that but the main thing is that we are through. How we made it will matter very little in the next round. Look at 2006, after two amazing performances against Real & Juve we stuggled against Villa Real. The diffrences between all teams at this stage is small enough to be all about on how you perform on the night.

Need to mention as well, did anyone else notice the grass yesterrday? I'm not sure if they'd let it grow for the last two weeks so it would sut them against us or if it's always like that, hope not as it would give us a problem in the final as well!

What's the point in coming on here then lads? This is where we analyse THE ARSENAL, it's why this place exists... You celebrate at home, at the game or in the pub; on here we also discuss the issues.

I too am delighted we are through, but we were shit tonight, against a poor Roma side with tired players. 2 of our supposed big game players (RVP and Nasri) had absolute mares, we created next to nothing, were outplayed and out muscled in midfield and our defense was absolutely shocking. They had a shout for a penno ( I don't think it was a penno but I've seen them given) and BurgerBeast missed a sitter - we were beyond lucky tbh. If that doesn't worry you for the big games we have coming up then I don't know what will. :?

The thing that amazed me last night was how unfit Roma were by the end of extra time even the goalkeeper during penalties. I havent seen a modern team seem so unfit it took me back to the FA cup finals of the 70's where players collapse with cramp or almost cant move

What a night.... Luck on our side for the first time in a very very long time! We played shit last night, but aint we lucky they are just as shit! The midfield was once again non existant and the amount of space we gave them was unbeliavble at times! but fucking hell did theose lads have bollocks of steel! I must say that i was not confident at all once it went to penalties especially after eduardo missed the first of the night.. that usually aint a good sign! but never mind! Bring on anyone now (part from Bayern Munich) :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Okay we know we were shit and also rode our luck but that can be a good thing on any Cup run.

and as the Song goes....
"how we get there I don't know? how we get there I don't Care!
All I now is we are on our way!!!"
:barscarf:

I did think Almunia could be our Seaman like against Sampdoria. But after the first two Pens I had No confidence in him at all. And didn't look like saving any.

Anyone else share the same?

Also I'm not a fan of his kid-ology but did you see him shout at Baptistia?
I remember one of the match programmes which said the two of them are close friends and the wifes meet up alot. The four went for a meal after the Italy Vs Brasil match.
Maybe he shouted
"you Miss, and I'll pay for lunch!" :D

Diaby had a solid game. That's the sort of player who needs to partner up with Fabregas when he comes back. Took no shit, imposed himself in the middle. 8)

Arsenal Vs Bayern Munich quarter final :barscarf:
