No surprise that we are linked with yaya again today with his agent saying that he is 90% certain to leave barca this summer

Not linked with him I know but I do wonder if mancienne of the chavs is worth a look as he says that he may have to leave them this summer ?

6ft tall cb who isn't great in the air and isn't bigger than Clichy body wise, now imagine him in an Arsenal shirt against Drogba

Arsenal Plan £22m German Pair Raid: Wenger Set for Summer Swoop To Bring Mertesacker and Neuer to the Emirates

Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to splash the cash and make moves for German international pair Per Mertesacker and Manuel Neuer. The Arsenal boss is keen to solidify his backline after seeing his side concede more goals this season than they have done in any season since 2002/03.
The Emirates side are looking to freshen up a back four that includes many veteran faces including William Gallas, Sol Campbell and Mikel Silvestre, who could all be on their way out of the club this summer. Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski have attracted a lot of attention with their less than able displays between the sticks which have led many to believe Wenger will bring in a new goalie.
With that in mind Schalke’s in form Manuel Neuer has been targeted. The 24 year old has been in sparkling form this season, helping his club to second spot in the Bundesliga and arguably making him Germany’s number one choice for the forthcoming World Cup.
The Gunners are also rumoured to be ready to make a bid for giant Werder Bremen centre back Per Mertesacker who has become a mainstay of the national team set-up and at 25 years of age already has 60 caps to his name and a reputation for being one of the toughest defenders in the game. At 6 ft 6 the former Hannover man cuts a imposing figure and has the ability on the deck to link defence and midfield, as well as being able to utilise his height expertly from set pieces.
The pair would set back the north London side around £24m a figure that Arsenal should be able to afford having been promised a hefty transfer fund by the club’s owners.

I think it's more realistic than the Buffon stuff. Someone made a point here a few days ago about Buffon not going to City because they have Given, Utd because of compitition with V deS, Chelski because they don't need him so that only left ourselves which I agree with that person.

With Adler out of the world cup with a recurring rib injury, might it be worth take a punt on him; we might even get a few quid off for the injury.

Mertesacker is a 6 ft 6 no nonsense hardman and that's exactly the sort of defender we need and exactly the sort of player Wenger would never go for. :(

Arsene knows[/quote]
