BG and rigsby, i think people, including me, are worried that these may be the ONLY signings. Id be delighted to have cole and chamakh, on top of a new GK, CB and DM, but imo and many others, these positions need filling before we sign cole.
people are moaning as its highly likely AW will not address the areas of most concern, as he has failed for 3 years.
if AW says we only get 2-3 players, and chamakh and cole are 2 of them, then 1 player on top of these, whatever position it is in, is not addressing our needs and is in excusable.
if chamakh and cole are on top of at least one cb, a DM and GK then fantastic

ok, now i agree with you, silvestre was a huge mistake. however, what if we now have 3 solid defenders (like we should've had this season with vermaelen, gallas and djourou) in vermaelen, djourou and the new signing and then campbell to be the "experienced player" that silvestre should've been? not the end of the world, is it?I Hate Hleb wrote:And that was also said last summer, rigsby!!And we got the great Silvestre!!:banghead:

Wenger himself claimed he wanted transfer signings wrapped up before the World Cup begins. Well, the clock is ticking rapidly and he better live up to his promise, even more so if the club - foolishly in my opinion - let Cesc leave.
about wenger wrapping the signings before the world cup, he said two things, but he didn't say that. first, he said we'd make ONE signing for sure before the world cup. that was chamakh. the other thing was that he wouldn't wait for the world cup to raise player's values and then buy them. which means we probably won't sign world cup players (leaves us with hangeland, cahill, etc)

but then, let's fucking wait for fuck sake. people are like the window has fucking closed already!
if we don't sign a proper centrehalf, i'll be the first to join you with anti-wenger banners.

But as things stand we only have 1 solid centre-half, and that's vermaelen. Although I rate Djourou, he's been very injury prone and has yet to prove that he can do the job needed.
Even if we retain Campbell, and his performances probably deserve another year, he'll be 37 and can hardly be relied on to perform at the top level week in/week out if we pick up injuries.
So if Gallas leaves, we've 1 proven Centre-half - that's it!!! Even if Song can play there in an emergency, we probably still need 2 more.

yes, i'd be very sad if we don't sign a keeper. it's unacceptable that lehmann was benched because of 2 mistakes and flappy and almunia are allowed to do attrocities and keep getting games.the playing mantis wrote:wud you be sad with just 1 CB and no gk though?
1 cb and 1 gk is the bare minumum imo.
realistically need 2 cb 1 gk 1 dm 1 fox in the box....but that aint going to happen

totally agree BG, jens was treated disgracefully by AW in his final years, (and thats not even taking into account what he had done for the club previously..invincible, getting us to the cl final etc). 2 mistakes and thats it, flappy and al, just carry on regardless. it may have been AWs revenge for mad jens outspeoken nature....
