Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are set for a £1.5m tussle over 18-year-old Crewe midfielder Nick Powell, who has been described as having the potential to be the best ever graduate from the famed Alex academy.
What I have heard and seen suggests he is a sensation and well worth the punt.

Matinez is a pipe dream and we would never try to compete in a bidding war that will happen. Edin Hazard falls into this category too. M'Vila sounds more in our mould.

Our defence still worries me and alot of deadwood needs moving on but then that has been the case for a few seasons now.

Personally would love to see us make a move for James McLean at Sunderland who's direct approach would add an extra dimension to our attacks. Give them Bendtner + a fee to tempt them.

(a) I know that this isnt going to make me popular with some on here ( ) but I feel that mclean is overated at the mo - yes he is a good young player but I am not sure about his technique especially playing for an "industrious" team where workrate not skill is the priority and cos of that I would like to see him develop over the next 18 months to see how good he is then

(b) sunderland have made it abundantly clear that they aint interested in the danish billy big bollox.......I doubt if they would take him if we gave him away for free  Of course cos we have other types of shit as back up to rvp at the mo, the return of bentdner is seen as a good thing by some on here

Wenger's post match comments;

on Chamakh's future…
He did well. Nothing is definite at the moment. At the end of the season I think you will have big surprises because there will not be a lot of movement in football.

Great.

That's what really worries me. We've got so many duds to shift that it's simply not going to possible to get rid of most of them. :(

Precisely, I'd rather shift most of the dross before we get anyone in because we have SO much that it would probably free up so much more cash to get in more 'super quality'. Imagine the wasted wages on Almunia, Squillaci et al. :banghead:

not to give the WUM any more ammo, but I have to say that Marko Marin looked good everytime I've seen him play. I actually wanted him to replace AA23 last season..at 6.5M that is really a steal. ffs this p1sses me off as much as the Mata deal :banghead:

I was pissed off when we lost out on Mata, but does anyone think he has been that good this year?
I'm not actually that bothered now looking at it
My concern is just the overall lack of strength in depth our squad has and our lack of ability to sell utter dross.

Mata hasn't been brilliant this season, but that's to be expected in his first premier league season, and as Frank said, he's been a million times better than the forehead!

I'm worried about the Martinez rumours because he just seems like a better version of Song - i.e. he's a holding midfielder who thinks he's a striker. If we're buying a holding midfielder, we need to buy a holding midfielder. That is a strong tackler, covers the ground well, sweeps behind the midfield and infront of the defence. M'Vila would fit the mould much better.

As for Marin - he had a lot of potential a few years ago and turned in a few decent performances but hasn't really kicked on. If he was anywhere near "the new Messi" or whatever people are dubbing him as, then someone like Real would have snapped him up by now. The fact Bremen sold him for £6.5m says it all I think, and he'll be too lightweight for the prem. Nothing to get worked up about, rather have Podolski any day.

And the fact we've accumulated so many in the first place is another reason why it's reasonable to suggest that perhaps Wenger isn't the right man to bring in the new players we so obviously need. :rubchin:

Didn't one cost nearly 3 times as much?

Surely it's Mata vs Arteta, The Forehead and Santos

Who cost 3 times as much ?? :? Mata cost somewhere around 17-18m while the forehead cost 11.5m so the cost isnt even near twice as much never mind three times as much  Anyway qwe could have bought mata a lot cheaper before his clause expired but the fcukwads running our club done their usual dicking around before deciding that an african playing in a 2nd grade league made more sense     :banghead:

Worthing Gooner, martinez is a million times better than song - he is tough, he likes a strong tackle (as opposed to tripping or wrestling opponents  ) and is far more disciplined positionally than the heap of shit we currently play in that position. I will say again that I would prefer de jong cos he has more experience plus a meaner streak to him but at the same time I would be more than happy with martinez (although is never gonna happen :( )
