Re: Gone for a Song?
For me no matter what you opinion might be on Song as a footballer, he has always come across as a model pro. No mouthing off in the press, and stated that he would rather sign a new contract than leave, despite interest from the whores.
Seems to me Wenger had decided he was going to let him go, so fair enough, he is gone and if Sahin is a better replacement then I am happy.
In a time however when we are slating players for their lack of loyalty and their self indulgence, I find the reaction to Songs departure, pure hypocrisy.
Unlike rvp, cesc, nasri and many more besides, I wish Alex Song nothing but the best in his future career and rumours of fallouts with Bould and refusing to train seem nothing more than a pr stunt.
Good luck Alex.

regardless of what i've said about song in the past, THIS was how to conduct a transfer away from the club.
no drawn out threats and mouthing off, just a quick and clean deal done behind the scenes without the press getting all their juicy tit bits, and then a nice respectful thanking of the club, fans, and manager.
good luck alex

Re: Gone for a Song?
According to the guy that broke the Cazorla story it was the opposite. Fell out with Bould in Cologne when proclaiming "big players don't want to waster their time at this Club". Threatened to strike if not sold so was shipped out. Difficult to know the truth.nexum5me wrote:this 100000%goonersid wrote:For me no matter what you opinion might be on Song as a footballer, he has always come across as a model pro. Verrily Tis True...He got above himself...what a *word censored* of a wanker.....I can envisage it now...song the bong arriving at Nou Camp...some old guy hands him a mop and bucket and says:
" mirar el sol de limpiar los baños " (Oi! sunshine you clean the bogs!)

Re: Gone for a Song?
Have to agree with Sid on how this transfer was conducted, but if memory serves me right, wasn't Song suspended by the Cameroonian FA after the 2010 WC for a few games after he also acted the Billy big bollox in training at the WC? I do think he's a bit of a bad apple in the dressing room. Thank fuck it looks as if he's out the doorgoonersid wrote:For me no matter what you opinion might be on Song as a footballer, he has always come across as a model pro. You dont believe that do you sid? That is bull from his agent. There is no player on earth who would turn down a move to Barca,That is football heavengoonersid wrote:For me no matter what you opinion might be on Song as a footballer, he has always come across as a model pro. My beef with Wenger over Song is he was one of the first choices on the team sheet every week.He was the DM.Last 3 seasons the defence conceded 41,43 and 49 goals. His leaving is 3 years overdue
Re: Gone for a Song?
Have to say, much of an abject corporate wastrel as Wenger is, I agree and back this decision 100%.Gunnersaurus wrote:Regardless of what he is paid or what you think of the situation as to why he has been paid that if he did throw a hissy fit then the club have done well for once to nip it in the bud and get rid.
17m for that piece of turd is 'amazing business'
What I don't agree with is what'll happen to the money...
Re: Gone for a Song?
The money will go towards the purchase of M'Vila.

Re: Gone for a Song?
Song threatened to go on strike?
So there would've been no perceptible difference in his perfoemances then, as the bloke clearly played like that for years anyway?

Re: Gone for a Song?
The thought of him threatening to go on strike leaves me gobsmacked.
He is one of the luckiest Footballers on the planet when you consider how limited he is and how Wenger persisted with him.
The sooner these big time Charlies are gone the better.
At the end of the day he is breaking up a team that has failed, nothing more, nothing less, a lot of these like Song and Bendtner have had ample chances.
