As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

i'm talking about the Volley from the corner.
we had them under pressure, won a corner. it gets swung in to the edge of the box and instead of nodding it down or playing it wide to keep the pressure on or create a chance, Ramsay volleys it into outer space.
that and those backheels and flicks, tell me he believes his own hype too much. he's an average workhorse midfielder with the occasional good touch, not marco van basten
northbank123 wrote:Just got back now. Actually thought we played good football today, people too often assume that we play great creative stuff but I don't automatically agree, but today we attacked with purpose and it was nice to see Gervinho actually running at players. For the first time in almost a year he showed the promise I saw in him, which is that he can actuallly skin men with consummate ease when he gets his head down and runs at them instead of hesitating. Helped that Southampton were shite too. Looked solid at the back again, Szczesny needs to stop being an arrogant prick though, needs a decent number 2 to put some pressure on.
^^^THIS^^^...I did hear that he comes on here to have a look now and thn...well, if you're reading this shez we love ya...BUT get shot of the arrogance and ego and stop flapping about like that other *word censored*!
He just seems to make a disproportionate number of errors against poor teams, particularly at home. He would never have dreamed of trying to catch a cross so lazily when he first came into the team.
He needs to learn how to kick a ball straight, I lost count of how many times early in the second half he spooned it straight back to them.

Expert? ha ha ha ha
The fact Gervais played well is even worse for Giroud's head, isn't it ?
Great win, nice and easy. Gervinho worked as a false 9 because he helped to keep the play going, as giroud would oftenly break play by missing a pass or being to slow on the ball. Great matches by Gibbs and Cazorla. Everyone bar Chez did well, really.

Think that's a bit harsh, Ramsey has the opposite problem with confidence if anything. As I remember it, the incident you're talking about was him running onto a corner 20 yards out which was perfect to hit on the volley. How was he meant to play that back out wide, control a clipped 20 yard ball on the volley and then volley it back out while being charged down? Can imagine people's reaction if he even attempted that!

perfect to hit on the volley by messi, ronaldo, RvP, horseface or van basten maybe. Ramsay should have headed it into the area.

I think Top Bolloxer was more taking you to task about you saying that Ramsey scored a goal. It hit the upright and forehead scored it, Ramsey didn't score.

harsh but fair imho
Dunno, think he was more than entitled to take that on, particularly given the circumstances. To be honest if you're looking for poor decisions or mistakes he's made then it's not like you have to do much digging, bet he was just happy to be on the right end of a 6-1 scoreline this time

ah. i see. when i typed 'good skill for the goal' i meant that touch turn and shot, he made that chance from nothing. and a goal resulted.
Quartz - me too, he showed strength and desire there. won the ball, shrugged off a challenge and played the ball forward.

Decent hard working player.
Agreed, been very impressed with him. Not as gifted as RVP but is very direct going forward and clinical and will put in a shift at the back week in week out, definitely should be one of the first names in the team sheet.
Too early to be dreaming about winning trophies, but very glad about the fact that we have some quality and experience in the first 11 after so long.
Good team performance, everyone bar the keeper played well, Cazorla was quality but he wasn't head and shoulders above the rest like he was in the first few games which is a good thing because it shows that we are now a team and don't rely on one person.
No one can say it was only Southampton, they did very well against the top 2 but were just outplayed like Liverpool were at Anfield.
Scez, needs to learn that it's not all about him and that we now seem to be "a team" I think it's a bit early to be thinking about dropping him I still think he is a better keeper than Mannone and will win us more points than he will cost us. Wenger needs to be careful he doesn't put himself in the same position he did with jens and almunia, where he didn't know which one to play and eventually chose the wrong one with devastating consequences which were to last for 3 seasons.
Wenger seemed angry at Scez in his post match interview, so I hope he relayed that back to the player.
