Ozil was subbed off many times and he wasn't happy about that.

Sanchez didn't always start, that's why they let him go. Their loss our gain.
Özil left because they bought Bale and Ancelotti told him he had to fight for his place as it wasn't guaranteed anymore.

Sánchez was ever present for Barca last season, finished as their second top scorer and high up on the assists chart as well.

I was at the game yesterday . I think sanago is without doubt the worst Arsenal striker we have had . He cannot hold the ball up and they didnt want to play the ball into his feet because they knew he would lose possession . In the first half it was so simple for Hangeland to mark him. Totally useless , if we are going to challenge we need better than Giroud let alone him.
I don't see Sanchez playing central either , i think his strength will be in away games when he will get more space and will be super on counter attacks . I do not know why we spent 35mill on a player that plays the same way as theo . It should have gone on a quality striker , obviously there was enough money.

Chambers looks good but chesney is not world class. Still a win is a win .

Spot on! Sanchez is a gag over some of us mouths. Similarly to the purchase of Oz11. A star player that makes the team a tad better but not addressing our immediate needs.

We need
A CF
A CDM

Those are main areas of deficiencies. None have been addressed yet.

We replaced defenders that left so no improvement there either.

Peace

Even that lazy drunk fat barsteward Bendtner is better (ever so slightly) than Sanogo and THAT is saying something...Any of the half decent punters and commentators are all saying WTF is he doing at Arsenal...Obviously he must have bought those incriminating photo's of Le Prof from eboue!..That is the only thing i can think of! :? :? :?

A rotting corpse would give Sanogo a run for a place based on what I've seen of the latter so far.

There you go. Zonal chaos at it's best! Again. We do not have the quality of defender to play zonal effectively. Those blaming Sanchez - he wasn't marking Hangeland, he was in the first zone as a blocker, he did his job (within the stupid constraints of zonal defending) and then turned back to his zone (which is what he should do - again, within the stupid constraints of zonal defending). Unfortunately this left Hangeland a free run at Kos who was static in his own zone and ball watching. Blame the inneffective system, not the players.

I know it's only one game but it is very obvious that we still have too many areas to address to challenge for the title.

Gibbs is a waste of a wage. Average on a good day. Shit on a bad one. Cannot cross the ball at all. How can a LB get this far in the professional game and not be able to fucking cross a ball?? And Hey! There's a fucking surprise - he's injured again. Get rid now please. Monreal (whilst being ok on Saturday) is no where near good enough.

Chesney is a fucking accident waiting to happen. He has talent but he has too many brain farts induced by his arrogance. He easily could have conceded 2 more goals through sloppiness and lazy arrogance on Saturday.

Arteta played well. His positioning and anticipation are excellent so he looks like he isn't doing much. But, on the couple of occasions he got it wrong, it was very obvious that his legs are all but gone and he has no pace left at all. Time to replace him because he will get exposed by better teams hitting us in numbers on the break.

Santi was rubbish.

Chambers played well.

3 points. Yay! :barscarf:

Time you got off the fence on your view re Ches

Still think he will win more than loose for us by a long way He was immense last season overall. As was said ealier though he did nearly give it away with that terrible clearence on Sat

Think his smiling is not an arrogant smile more a smile of embarrasment at times.

Also really really dont like him wearing black  Reminds me too much of the 6-0 v Chavs

As I said, I agree he has talent, there is no doubt. But his arrogance has and will cost us. :|

I don't agree though that the smile is embarrassment. It's arrogance. :(

Flappy will do okay, he will benefit a bit from playing regularly and by and large nobody will even notice if he costs them the odd goal by flapping or charging out of his area.

Despite being very annoying at times, Szczesny is miles better.

Regarding the zonal marking, I still think you need a few runners. What we used to do was cover the posts and then place 3 good headers in key positions and then have a few run-trackers. Giroud is really underappreciated in terms of how many crosses he nods away at that near post. Sanogo just got dragged out of that position for Saturday's goal, although to be fair you can understand him trying to act on the danger.

And that is part of the problem. A defence has to be extremely well rehearsed in zonal and extremely disciplined for it to work. Human nature is to get attracted to the danger, the runner or the ball, to get dragged out of the zone. You also need very athletic defenders because it is very difficult to outjump someone running at you when you are static.

Have always been a fan of covering the posts and we used to do it well. The amount of clearances Cuntley used to make was unreal.

I cant understand the lack of covering the posts either- seems odd to leave them, how often do goals creap in the corners.

I seem to remember Gibbs doing it last season, tried to save the ball with his hands didnt he.... Oh wait....
