Liverpool Away, our kid.
Re: Liverpool Away, our kid.
According to Opta...
36.5% - Arsenal's possession figure vs Liverpool today was lower than they've recorded in any other PL game between Aug 2003 and now.
27 - Arsenal today faced more shots than they have in any other Premier League game (Aug 2003-present).
I'm assuming Aug 2003 was when "records began"? as I can't believe we put in a worse statistical performance in 2003. That was the start of the invincibles.
As I said earlier, I reckon today was as bad as last seasons humiliation. We haven't improved nor learned any lessons... the only difference was the absence of Suarez and Sturridge.

On the positive side we scored two today from that low possession and only let in two from all those shots.g88ner wrote:According to Opta...

I think a key element of our draw today was the inability to get the ball to the forwards as much as we usually do, because we do usually have a lot of possession.
That was in part to Rodger's swamping their midfield, and in part to Oxlade-Chamberlain not being a good long passer in a tight game.
I like a lot of his attributes such as pace, power, ability to run with the ball and swerve, and think he can eventually be a good central midfielder, but he is not there yet.
Another key element was the substitutions.
Coquelin relaced Giroud and Coquelin was not bad, but surely he should have replaced Oxlade-Chamberlain?
Campbell for Giroud would have been more appropriate...and Sanchez was shattered, so he should have been subbed earlier than 94 minutes.
I would have taken him off around 80 minutes and replaced him with Podolski.
That would have given us a bit of ball winning in the middle (Coquelin), a runner to stretch them (Campbell) and a goal threat who needs only a glimmer of a chance to pull the trigger (Podolski).

Even against the Mousers, I felt fairly flat when they equalised. But I am pissed off at how fucking awful we were today. Unbelievably we found ourselves 2-1 up against 10 men and we had zero clue how to manage it. It ficking disgusts me, we are ficking spineless cowards.

Didn't deserve a lot from the game but glad not to lose to those scumbags. Just now heard Rodger's after match interview where he accused Sanchez of diving to win the free for our first goal. That comment is as stupid as the many he has made in the last year. Hate the prick and his one hand salute with a vengeance.
On the game we were awful for most parts , the second goal was well constructed and finished, thought Debuchy was excellent , Santi was decent and Giroud was good. Szczesney was reasonable. After that Ox had a nightmare, overran the ball too often and to be honest should have been taken off earlier. Sanchez was poor , but he hardly owes us anything, Chambers was again poor and look at Mert's face as the corner comes in for Skertle's goal. He looks terrified.
A word on Sterling, CHEAT... that is the word.

I actually blame chambers - he had the job on Skrtel but showed no interest and gave him space and a run up from that spot. I also blame BFG, at least I think it was him - palmed Skrtel off to chambers instead of taking him himself - I'm always astounded when simple matching up doesn't occur in defensive set pieces.wilko49er wrote:Gibbs went walk about as well. I'd gladly give up 50% of our style (even that's not what it used to be) in exchange for some serious old school hard headedness in DM and CBs. I like Debuchy though.
And fair shout to Giroud - he's been a key player offen and is much better than he gets credit for (probably because he's a bit of a tosser).
Re: Liverpool Away, our kid.
This game was so frustrating as instead of killing the game we handed Liverpool the initiative and tried to defend the lead. In stariscally our worst game since Opta records began, we should've won. That last minute chance for monreal, had that been podolski, we'd be celebrating a 3-2 victory. Wenger cost us a win with poor tactical and substitution choices. I'm not calling for Wenger out as I'm tired of beating that drum...its just so frustrating when we can see it and he couldn't.QuartzGooner wrote: Another key element was the substitutions.

Trust Arsenal to completely balls up your Christmas. Cu*ts.
I really can't be bothered, not angry, just indifferent. I don't care. I want the season over and I want Wenger gone. I want the spineless/undeserving subpar players gone. I want my club back.

Lucky, lucky Arsenal. We could & should have got beat by a couple of goals but ended up with a draw. We'll need to improve to win at ammers & S'th'n. Need Rambo & Kos asap.

When the board went up for 9 mins injury time I sent a text to my buddy - "2-2, Lambert header from a set piece".
Almost right. It's now got so predictable its fucking boring. Nothing changes at arsenal until the manager does. I despise him.

You're right. There's easy money to be made once you know it's Groundhog Day. There was a time conceding a last second equaliser would have sent me into an apocalyptic rage. Now it's so expected I don't even care. That's Turnips biggest indictment IMO - making me not give a fuck anymore. Why should I?afcforever wrote:rodders999 wrote:When the board went up for 9 mins injury time I sent a text to my buddy - "2-2, Lambert header from a set piece".
