It’s all very small margins - we could have easily been held by United the other week, we could have easily hung on today.

4 points from those 2 matches is a decent return.

Trossard is a big positive for us - now get behind the team for Wednesday :barscarf:
Rob get a grip mate. I fucking hate when people say that. It's like we cannot criticise a shit performance without now being portrayed as not supporting the team.

Totally agree with what others have said about the scourge of time wasting that’s allowed to go unpunished by the way.

I only got to see the final 7 minutes last week at Everton plus the 6 minutes of injury time and in those 13 minutes I reckon the ball was in play for a maximum of 4.

Same today with players going down pretending to be hurt or faking head injuries yet there were only 5 minutes added on.

You should have to stay off the pitch for 5 minutes and be assessed by the medical team if you go down with a head injury. That way the cheating would stop straight away and the genuine cases could be immediately subbed off (as they should anyway). It would put a stop to it overnight.
That will put a stop to that crap. In rugby you have to go off immediately for an HIA (Head injury assessment) They should do it in football. Down to 10 men for 5 of the last 7 minutes, that'll make them think twice.

We have no ability to change up our game. No plan B. But the Arteta cultists will tell you he is the greatest young manager in the world and we are top because we the best team in the world, and it has absolutely nothing to do with all the other top 6 teams being shit and going through transitional phases....

This is the kind of game where Arteta has to show he is more than a Spanish Wenger.

COME ON FFS!! :banghead:
This.

Plus we have no squad. The Jan window looks poorer as each game goes by. Jesus is needed desperately yet even he doesn't score yet creates havoc that's let's others in.

As ok as Eddie has done so far and influenced a couple of games, today shows what we are lacking. We used to have 4 top class striker back in the day. We play a different way now so 4 not neededd but we have one very good and one ok striker.we need top class and very good to actually kick on properly. Eddie is OK 3rd choice.

With no ESR there's nothing on the bench to change things at all bar trossard who should be starting as martinelli is poor for the last month at least. Voera is pointless.

Zinchenko was again poor and Tierney surely should be coming in for him in this and the Everton type games where he can overlap and the inverted fullback isn't needed, but no same players same tactics.

Worrying as unless we score first we are liable to lose against these teams and now our defence looks a bit flaky...keeper again...but was happening all game as it did vs Everton, 1 goal is never enough

Martinelli probably tired as the lack of rotation is biting us and it is Newcastle.

Worrying and it really is the hope that kills you as I haven't felt this fucked off about us for years.

We really needed a statement win today after the Everton game. We all knew we would have poor spells and this is the first.

I think we will probably beat city in the week but cannot see how we will win the league as we are paperthin and the manager will not rotate. If we lose I can see the wheels coming of quite quickly but as you say at least everyone else is all over the place.

I'm pissed off with this as it's dissapointing and hope Bobby's prediction last week of the Everton loss feeling season defining doesn't come true but worrying signs.

To put a positive spin on things we all probably would have been just about happy with a draw away at scum and home to united (well maybe...) and we got 6 points so these 6 points dropped are not so bad...

Apologies for spelling and making any sense... phone typing in the pub.

Somebody said last week that he'll create chances for others???
was me!

im clutching at straws!...he at least is better than eddie and or only hope tbh given the poor transfer window..

seems a consensus on here of the issues and the city games, but villa after screams dropped points on current form. can easily see us beati ng city then losing at villa. win both and what a confidence boost...

The writing was on the wall today when Arteta started the same 11 as up at Goodison last week. There was zero accountability for that shit performance and players were allowed go through the motions again. The lack of a plan B is killing us. Every team between now and May will be doubling up on the wings and we'll massively struggle. When the title is Well gone in April and May then we'll pick up points again as there'll be no pressure on. How depressing that this same post could apply to however many years under Wenger.

This obsession with Jesus being the answer for us up front is not going to end well. He is not a 20 goal a season EPL striker, that is why City got rid. He hadn't scored for 9 games before he got injured, so why is he now going to be our rescue guy?? Somebody said last week that he'll create chances for others??? So, our target man, our main striker is needed, not to score goals, but to create chances for the same players who cannot score now :? :? Everybody is a great player when they're injured. He is a small player with great feet, good in tight spaces. But we already have two of those....Trossard and Odegaard. Imo, he is an option, probably first choice over Eddie, but I would not expect him to be winning us games week in, week out.

I cannot remember when last Martinelli went past his man
Ben White should not be at RB. What is the point of going on the overlap if you cannot cross the ball??
Eddie should not be the target man for a Top 6 club, never mind one chasing a title.
Xhaka is............well he's Xhaka.
Viera and Jorghino are utter crap. That final free kick embodies Viera.

Our real problem is when we are struggling there are no game changers on the bench. Wtf is going on with ESR, is he our new Wilshire????

I think we will be better against City. We have ALWAYS struggled against teams that line up on the edge of their box. Especially big imposing one's. Imo, we have to score first against City. Go a goal down and I see heads dropping.

I agree Jesus isn't that, But the way he works and makes runs does open up the opposition for others to score.

Agree Vieira is weak and in fact a fucking disaster of a signing

Fraid ESR just might be that? I sincerely hope not as he is a Genuine Talent , he can run at and through defences, he puts the opposition on the Blackfoot as soon as he gets the ball. I just hope this latest injury is the final one so that he can now kick on (pun intended).

Reading Brentford’s forum. They reckon the VAR feed was leaked and they didn’t look at any offsides at all. Apparently they looked at a foul on Zinchenko but badged it as an offside review. Because they spent so much time on it they then just gave the goal. They missed all of the offsides in that passage of play. Watch MOTD later, they will go to town on it.

Trossard for Martinelli was the obvious change to make after Goodison (and beyond) but outside of that I’m failing to see what options we have?

Sure you could make an argument for changing one or both of the full backs but would that have turned 1 point today into 3? I doubt it.

Fact is until ESR and Jesus are back fit we’ve only got Trossard as an attacking option off the bench, Vieira I’m just going to write off this year and hope with a full pre season under his belt next summer he can show us there’s a player in there because for now it just ain’t happening.

Exc: VAR Lee Mason forgot to draw offside lines on Ivan Toney's equaliser in a mistake that could have a huge impact on Arsenal's title hopes.

Christian Norgaard was offside. Had the lines been drawn, the goal would have been disallowed.

This is beyond corrupt.

Could cost us the title.

This is a bigger fraud than FIFA. It WILL come out one day.

How does any VAR official "forget" to draw the lines when checking an offside?

Are we expected to believe this bullshit?

Can't wait to hear the official statement from PGMOL, should be worth a laugh.

Just watched it on MOTD,lost for words really, what the fuck could them 2 bob VAR c unts come up with to get themself out of that farce, whether we deserved the win or not we’ve been cheated, pure and simple, what if we did miss out on the league by 1 point, who’s going to answer as VAR was bought in to make sure this didn’t happen?

Also KG,Ramsdale has had a shocker with the flapping, but it should have been irrelevant

Funnily enough Leicester had a goal disallowed v the Sp*ds and the commentator actually said “i suppose offside is offside,it’s a factual decision,” unless lee fat useless c unt mason is on VAR

viera was a really strange buy...did they look at him and say yes hes really weak and ineffectual....looks a perfect fit for a very competitive and physical premier league?
