THE WENGER THREAD
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Loans were taken out, corporate bonds were issued. Apartments were build and sold. Ticket prices were hiked substantially. Thats how we built the stadium. It was financed by banks, bond buyers, and the payments on those debt obligations were paid by income from gate revenue. Thats pretty much how major infrastructure projects are built. Borrowed money, with the build object acting as a revenue stream to finance interest payments on loans and bonds. You build an office building, you rent the space out, get the money - use it to pay off interests payments on issued debt.
There is nothing unique about the building of the Emirates that we can be attributed personally to Wenger.
'Wenger built the stadium' is another intellectually bankrupt cliche.

And robbed from the Club as a Manager, and left The Arsenal for Man U when Alan Ball came, and managed Tottenham.Clash wrote:

He really does seem to think he did more for us than we did for him.
F*ck George Graham, and F*ck Arsene Wenger.
P.S. and he got a League Cup Winners Medal, playing for Chelsea. I think Graham doesn't care who he was playing for, as he won all three as a player as well.

At 7 million a year for 20 odd years Wenger probably the second most expensive thing the club have paid for after the stadium "he built"

Managed the scum.....I would not bat an eyelid if Wenger did the same next season. In fact, I'd say such an act of unwitting sabotage is the only way I can imagine for AW to regain affection from Arsenal fans after the damage he has now done to the club by clinging on years after he should have goneflash gunner wrote:and managed the scumClash wrote:As for Graham ... yeah he won all 3 domestic trophies and a European one ... and he almost did the same as an Arsenal player (2 league cup final defeats prevented it). Won't happen, of course, but I'd take a swap. He'd make them a shambles again and their bloke would sort out our defence, bring in proper defensive midfielders and make us a coherent unit.

First time poster here lads.
Long time gooner (when it meant something) and like most of the sentiment on here, absolutely despise Arsene Wenger and the board at this great club.
Been reading through this thread and basically every post is a summation of my thoughts with this disgustingly greedy egotistical manager who has no respect for the supporters and quite frankly I do not give a flying sh!t about the man anymore.
The Alexis saga has really tipped me over though. This man is TEFLON. What else does he have to do to get the f***** press on his back and be held accountable for his complete and utter mismanagement and failings!! We all know the board are in on the act, but his greediness and bullsh!t lies and narcissism has really got on my f****** tits.
I am sick to death of him!! RVP, Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy etc...what else needs to be said!! They knew the bloke was finished and good luck to them I say. I used to hate them but I understand now what Wenger is.
A dictator, an arrogant old greedy man who only cares about his EGO.
If he cared and loved this club so much why is he putting the best interests of the club and waiting to see whether to sign a contract. Why isn't he coming out now like Enrique and notifying everyone of his decision?? I know why...EGO EGO EGO.
WHAT THE F*** HAS HE DONE TO WARRANT A NEW CONTRACT? WHAT? ABSOLUTELY F****** NOTHING!!! He is absolutely teflon. He was gifted an invincibles side that Tony Pulis could've won titles with and bought him an extra 12 years. The stadium move is a complete load of lies and bollocks from him and the club as well. Juventus and Bayern moved stadiums...how are they going?
You know when you can tell Wenger is lying? His lips move. He is a disgrace. He can't even answer questions anymore. He can't spin them either cos the c*** can't speak English!!!
I don't even need to delve into his past 12 years of FAILINGS, LIES, RUBBISH SPIN we all know it, but I am sick to f***** death of the bloke.

I get on with everyone

Re: THE WENGER THREAD
Well put. You'd think he paid for it out of his own pocket the way some people go on!, and lets be honest in a footballing sense the Emirates has not been a success yet and the atmosphere is dreadful, Wenger was apparently involved in the design so we can put some blame on him for that as well.Wilson wrote:Loans were taken out, corporate bonds were issued. It all stems from too much power being handed to one man, that is why I blame the board just as much as Wenger, it's all very well saying they handed him the money (it was not their money anyway) but they have absolutely no vision for the club other than it making money, Wenger out yes obviously, Kroenke out is even more important long term.
Re: THE WENGER THREAD
I get the loyalty thing, and I don't doubt that he was probably approached by some of the big European clubs back at his peak, but this bullshit about how he sacrificed himself selflessly drives me fcuking mad - the guy was paid an absolute fortune for that loyalty, and up until the last few years he was the highest paid coach in world football

93 - 10th place and League cup and FA Cup winners (cup double)
94 - 4th place and European Cup winners Cup (the clubs only European trophy)
95 - 12th place and no trophies, which was manly as a result of Grahams dodgy side dealings which distracted the team and engulfed his time at the club.
Won a trophy 5 out of 9 years (although a bit disingenuous to count the last year which was engulfed by scandal). So its more like, won a trophy 5 years out of 8. Graham won 6 trophies all up
Whilst Wenger has won 9 trophies in 21 years, and has won trophies in only 7 of 21 years - 14 trophy less seasons. Graham only had 3 trophy less seasons. Yet Wenger thinks he built the club, even though there are managers before him, that have better records in terms of ratio's and statistics.
I really would like to see us fans talk more about George Graham and Herbert Chapman a lot more. Because the Wenger cult of personality has pretty much meant, many forget we had a truly fantastic manager like Graham. For instance, so many talk about the 'beautiful football' we play under Wenger, and how Wenger brought us out of Graham era - as if thats a good thing. Arsenal were famous for defensive strengh, so much so we made pop culture for our famed defensive prowess (the Full Monty reference of the offside trap). Yet Wenger has coached that out of the club, to the point we are associated with poor and soft defending.
So Wenger wants to talk about legacy. Ok, lets talk about how he destroyed the famed legacy of Arsenal being a defensive powerhouse, and turned us into a punchline for shit defending.
for all the talk of Wenger's "incredible" record of 20 years in the Champions League my proudest memories of European football as an Arsenal fan are actually in the years preceding Wenger - the 1980 Cup Winners Cup march to the final including that famous semi final win in Turin, the 1994 Cup Winners WIN! In 1994 and then coming very close to repeating that 12 months later.
I mention this because back then we were competing for European trophies.
I saw a quote from Wenger yesterday along the lines of "Bayern are hard to beat because they are one of the teams competing to actually win the CL" that implies as we all well know that Arsenal are now in Europe purely to make up the numbers. It sums up the decline of a once great club.
