SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What are you lot moaning about? When we sign no-one it'll be because there is obviously no quality in the market, it has to true, I'm just waiting for our dear leader to tell me so.

I am starting to think Higuain was all smoke and mirrors as the football romantic in me thinks he'll go to Napoli, a la Maradona (cheating bastard).

Doesn't leave us much to choose from though, does it? If Maureen wants Rooney, he'll get him. The Suarez link is clearly bollocks too. Negredo is all but a city player and Jovetic (more of a Bergkamp type player than an out-an-out goalscorer) is in a price bracket that we won't (not can't) pay.

Sanogo it is then! Plus, Giroud is showing his super quality by putting cricket scores past Far East teams, so we have nothing to worry about. :barscarf:

I await with dread the news that Wenker's signed his contract, it'll be the ultimate 'new signing'.

wishful thinking.

maybe with Papiss Cisse falling out with the Barcodes we should get involved
I really rate him - great finisher, very two footed, good in the air, knows the league

(go straight to 2.50 if you just want those two goals v Chelski)

we need a fast forward..mobile... Suarez will fit in...but will he shout his mouth...cissy is a clone of Giroud.....expect he is faster than giroud

Le Gimp is quoted in the Guardian tomorrow as saying that Cesc is gonna stay one more year at Barca.

no way would I sign Torres, not seen him play well for years
Negredo is gone http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013 ... y-sevilla1

Cisse is much more mobile and dynamic than Giroud.
More pacey and covers far more of the pitch
I see Giroud as a classic #9 targetman. A penalty box striker.

Wenger has moved himself to centre stage of transfer window. Highlighting the self importance the twat feels he has above all other activity during this narrowing window.

I want to join the ranks of those who officially hate the bastard :cussing:

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is a key target for Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis as he prepares to reinvest the funds generated by Edinson Cavani's sale to Paris St Germain.

De Laurentiis, who on Tuesday night expressed his disappointment Uruguayan striker Cavani had opted to leave Italy, tempered the news by revealing he has now made 124.5million euros (£108m) available to new coach Rafael Benitez in the current transfer window.

Cavani moved to the Parc des Princes for 64.5m euros (£56m) and a chunk of that fee could now be paid to Real for their wantaway Argentinian forward Higuain, who has also been linked with Premier League club Arsenal.

Quoted in La Repubblica Sport, De Laurentiis admitted in a question and answer session with fans on his official Twitter account that he is pursuing Higuain, his Madrid team-mate Raul Albiol and Internacional striker Leandro Damiao.

He said: "It's true that we're negotiating for Gonzalo Higuain and Leandro Damiao.

"The money we got for Cavani was 64.5mil and added to the 60mil we had set aside for the transfer budget there will be 124.5mil to carefully invest on Napoli.

"There are various names on the table, we're assessing the situation.

"(Albiol) is undergoing medical tests and we hope he passes them."

Napoli have already signed Belgian winger Dries Mertens from PSV Eindhoven and Real striker Jose Callejon as Benitez plots another Serie A title challenge, after the Partenopei finished second to Juventus under Walter Mazzarri last season.

The Bianconeri have not been resting on their laurels, however, adding prolific duo Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente to their frontline in recent weeks.

"Is there an area of the team where we're better than Juventus?" De Laurentiis added. "It's too early to tell.

"Are we targeting the Scudetto or a Champions League semi-final? We're always aiming for the maximum and we'll be competitive both in Italy and in Europe.

"Benitez was an excellent appointment and the new boys are settling in."

How do all the 'done deal' boys feel about this one now eh ?

Higgy isn't coming
Rooney isn't coming
Cesc isn't coming
Fellaini isn't coming
Suarez isn't coming

Some cheap old shit from Ligues 1 & 2 might come in (on 31 August when we're already 5 points off the lead)
Who the fuck said Rooney, Cesc or Fellaini are coming? The only ones we've made bids for are Higuain and Suarez. Stop talking shit.

Thought we did offer for Fellatio but that Wenger put the kibosh on it due to wage demands upwards of £100k p/w?

It could be bollocks though, papers need to sell copies, but it would fit Wanger's MO.

And if we are dismissing the rumours about cesc, shrek and fellaini as just speculation then why haven't we done the same with the higuain story ? Havent real Madrid come out and said that we had never bid for him ? Seems like we are choosing which stories we want to believe and which we want to dismiss
