I still believe that we will sign tierney and another defender.
The trick he does on (exactly) 1 minute into the video will have you laughing out Loud!

Ornstein: "Well, before deadline day, Arsenal want to bring in a centre half if possible. Left back Kieran Tierney is the target, we all know about that. Arsenal retain their interest in him." #afc
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
I’d rather we’d spent £85mil on maguire than £70mil on Pepe, simply because defence is an area that needs addressing way more than attack!
Neither player may prove not to be worth their transfer fees, so that renders that arguement irrelevant!
If we fail to address our cb options and lets be honest we need to sign 2 cb, then this could prove to be the most misguided piece of transfer dealing in the clubs history!
So despite the euphoria being experienced by many, I am still very concerned!
Xhaka, will be our captain, therefore the first name on Emery’s team sheet!! He is fucking dogshite !
Guendozi will still be prancing about like a fucking dressage pony !
And I still think we will see Mustafi in an Arsenal shirt next season!
So what in under fuck have we got to look forward to?

I don't think that you will find too many Gooners that will disagree with you on that sid - I have previously stated my belief that IF we sign Tierney and at least one centre back then it might well be our best transfer window since this window system came in. However I (and many others) have also said that signing pepe before signing defenders makes no sense, and failure to sign at least 2 defenders in the next week will make it a horrendous transfer window for us.
That being said, I don't agree with the suggestion that signing fat head maguire for £85m is a better deal than what we signed pepe for - for starters there is no way that maguire is worth anywhere near that amount, whilst pepe might well develop to that type of quality given his age. Secondly, and this is more crucial imo, your suggestion totally ignores the financial dynamics of this deal - as of right now we have signed pepe for approx. £20m cos that is what we have handed over thus far, and handing over up front huge transfer fee's for the likes maguire and Zaha is impossible for us given our finances, so those type of deals and players are not options for us
You say that there isn't a whole lot to look forward to though, and on this point I absolutely disagree - regardless of who the manager is in the next few seasons, we now have a core of good young hungry players, to build a team around. Think about the team we had in wenger's last season and you will see a team built on aging players (cech, kos, monreal, ozil, mikki etc.) and look at the expected line-up going forward and you will see a core group of players coming into their peak (lacca, torreira, pepe, nelson, smith-rowe, holding, bellend, maitland-niles, leno etc.) - many of us (me especially) knew that there would be no short-term fix to sort out the shitfest le cock left behind, and I am delighted that the club has build it's recovery based on young players rather than a mix of aging short-term fixers

I'm liking the 3 man list even though I wouldn't be using the funds to buy Zaha - selling number 3 on the list would be hand lotion time for me

If we had actually spent £72M upfront on Pepe then I would tend to agree that slabhead would have been a better buy but as we know that's not how the deal has worked out.
Imo Dick has got to get a grip on the team and start ordering some of the midfield to hold back when we are attacking and likewise the fullbacks. Too many times last season we watched as too many players committed to an attack with insufficient cover and nothing made my heart sink more than watching Torreira galloping forward when Xhaka was already wandering about on a flank somewhere.
As some have reminded us recently there were problems with the midfield as well as the defence last year but it looks like Dick has done enough transfer dealing / promotion of youth to pull a half decent squad together. Importantly we shouldn't have to see Ozil, Mhiki and lardarse on the park at the same time any more which is a good thing.
I can't believe that we aren't simply going to pay the money for Tierney at the last minute to get that deal done.
Bet wiggy can't wait to sell Pepe in a couple of years to Barca for £200M having only handed over £46M to Lille for him

I feel sorry for Tierney but given that latest news we'd have to be mad to sign him.
If Dick could convince Kolasinac that every right winger is a car-jacker and that he (Kolasinac) might spontaneously self combust if he crosses the half way line then I'd maybe stick with him (christ, can't believe I just said that
) and go spend any money on a CB instead, preferably one that isn't injured...doesn't have a broken back....you know, that kind of thing.

100% I would still sign him - again we will NEVER get a full back of his quality for £25m ever again, and yes it is a big blow (if true) that he wont be available in the short-term, but we have 1 or 2 players that can cover for that period until he is ready to assume the job.
Please, please Dick and raul get this deal done asap
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
On one hand I am very dismissive of a story like this, but on the other hand the club does seem to be targeting attacking signings instead of addressing our woeful defensive weaknesses, so who knows if there is any substance to this story

He is a good player of that there is no doubt but I must admit I wasn't aware of how bad his injury history is
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kieran- ... ler/300716
And then we have the current problem which could run anywhere from 3 - 8 weeks apparently. That begins to tell a story.
I'm not sure what kind of a guarantee a top doc could give for his furure fitness but I would definitely be thinking twice about Tierney now however much I want rid of Kolasinac.

Reports from Spain quoting £110M to buy him or £27M for a loan deal.........wonder if Raul has something on the Barca president
