The January "He Looks Quite Good" Transfer Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Boomerang as I now call him is flying to London in a private jet.

Sightseeing or signing for the Arsenal.......
I'm gagging ( :-P ) for this to happen - finally someone to get excited about, and a far-cry from the usual shit-average Wenger signing :barscarf:

We're still in dire need of a CB, GK and DM, but Aubameyang would be a fantastic buy, and at least something to stir up a bit of interest in the team again

But it'd be so typical Arsenal and utterly cruel for this to fall through tomorrow
even if it goes through (unlikely) I am afraid I do not share your excitement.
Wenger is no longer capable of managing a team to challenge for the top honours - he might as well sign Messi, it wouldn't make any difference.

I spoke to a German colleague of mine who knows German football pretty well.
He politely describes Aubameyang as "a loose cannon", basically someone who like Sanchez Wenger will be unable to manage.
We will pay him loads of money, he won't really want to know, yet there will be no discipline. I don't doubt he would love to join us - just don't expect us to improve if he does.

32000 people were tracking the flight on that online flight tracker website :coffeespit:

You can't beat Arsenal's online presence to be fair.

Completely understand - but even with Le Tosser in charge, if we can't get exicited about a front line of Aubameyang, Lacazette, Ozil and Mkhitarian, we might as well not bother anymore.

I'm putting some hope in the bastard storming off in the summer to 'teach us a lesson' 8)

wenger or not, if it goes through despite his unruly nature we are signing one of the best strikers in europe (dare i say better than sanchez). credit to the club for that.

that said so long as AW managers him he will likely regress.

and we still need a defence and GK and defensive midfileder, but if AW f' off in the summer and ancelloti takes over im very pleased we have aubaymang.

Borussia Dortmund have cleared Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to have a medical at Arsenal but the deal is still not done.

Can you imagine the panic in Ivan's voice as he rings Stan to say Aubameyang has actually arrived at the training ground..
Stan screaming " you fools it wasn't suppose to really happened like this,it was suppose to break down because of Aubameyang's demands , and we were to look like we really tried "

what would be really remarkable if this transfer happens is because we are outside the legendary "top 4", which is apparently so so important to attract top players...For the last decade when we were actually in the top 4 we somehow always struggled to sign someone though :rubchin:

without sounding like a doom and gloom monger the signings of Aubameyang and Mkhytarian have only again papered over the cracks and we will be no better off possibly even worse off look at the evidence.Weve lost Sanchez and replaced him with Mykhtarian, nobody can say in their right mind youd take him over Sanchez,ok so we bring in Aubameyang but we lose Giroud, that leaves us with one striker and Lacazette is hardly tearing the place up,who you gonna call off the bench now to save us? Rambo.? also at long last Walnut has left and don't forget the Ox has gone too, those players haven't been replaced, which ever way you look at it we are a shrinking squad.the club is cutting costs to cover the short fall in not making the CL and probably making allownaces again for next season. To bring in Aubameyang is awesome but again just like Ozil the stars have aligned ,you cant tell me we are Aubameyangs favoured destination and he would sign for us under normal circumtances, nobody else is in for him same as when we bought Ozil and as for Mkhytarian weve just been given uniteds Xhaka, time will tell if this all works out but for me the club has got massively lucky that its managed to bring in on paper 2 quality signings to squash any potential unrest amongst its dwindling support, look beyond that though and it doesn't hide the fact that this past few months has been a cost cutting exercise by the club and yet still we are in dire need of a DM,Keeper and CB but hey lets just keep on buying attacking players, the cluster fuck continues,i hope it all works out me thinks we wont be any better
