ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

More concerned with the Koscielny / Mustafi situation . The left back is more long term , it needs sorting but lets see Tierney play until Christmas in Scotland and go back if he's still walking. Celtic will have tied the league up by then and be out of Europe so why would he want to stay.

Dick clearly wants to go with a back 4 again (my preference too), so sticking with what we have got leaves us with a left back that doesn't want to defend, and a left back that is too old to defend

Tierney is beginning to look like a huge gamble which we aren’t in a position to take.
I’m sure the club were aware of his injury history when scouting him and maybe that’s why they’ve been reluctant to pay the smellies asking price.
I have a feeling this deal won’t happen, so we need to look elsewhere, shouldn’t be difficult to find an improvement on Kolasinic
I wouldn't rule out Kolasinac just yet. He's certainly mobile and when he started as LB when he first arrived he was decent enough. Since he was played as LWB things started going wrong as he was asked t do things he wasn't good at like, putting in a decent cross and the right attacking decision. Playing him at LB and taking the attacking element away will improve his confidence. Also, his recent heroics will do wonders for his status amongst the squad. In a 4-4-2 he fairs better than in 4-3-3 and 3-5-2.

So if it was mustafi that did those heroics, he status will have improved as a result ?? Incidents like that make good banter in the dressing room, but it does not make him a better player on the pitch

Let's hope so :rubchin:

Watching him and lardarse as a dynamic duo together down the left is a hard watch

It will improve his confidence and that helps makes a player play better. I think just giving him one job, defending, he'll do it better if he's playing with confidence

I still think we'll get Tierney over the line before the window shuts. Even though he won't be fit till September/October by the sounds of it which I'm fine with because he's good enough to be our long term LB. There's enough cover there in Monreal and Kolasinac. More worried about AMN continuing to deputise for Bellerin at RB than I am about the LB situation. Perhaps someone like Mattia De Sciglio on loan a RB who can cover all across the back four would be ideal alongside Tierney. Revisit the CB situation again in January if needed or just get Cahill on a free.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has revealed Arsenal target Tierney is in constant pain when he kicks a ball.

Well that might be a setback when your job is to umm, kick the ball.

Stay clear ffs, we've had enough injury prone or simply broken players, this guy makes Diaby look like batman.

Maybe I shouldn't be thinking like this, but now that manure have signed fathead maguire, is there any chance our c.unts will go in and sign either rojo or phil jones ?? They will have too many centre backs now and will be looking to offload some, and history has taught me that signing useless cuntin manure rejects is certainly not beyond the realms of possibility

I will cry a dozen rivers if we signed either of those c.unts

This maybe doesn't fit naturally here but this thread will do

Has anyone read about The Athletic a new subscription football site which started in the US but has been buying up footy journos over here (double your salary offers apparently). They have recruited Ornstein and Amy Lawrence from our side of things and apparently Gunnerblog is writing for them too. They are charging a tenner a month or £60 pa upfront with the promise of "no ads, no clickbait"..... They are picking off local journos with decent links to clubs too......an interesting development.
