THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

About the managers generally, I really admire Conte and how he represent himself in public. Look a the difference between him and Mouwanker regarding yesterdays bust up during the match. Conte just shrugs it off while Mou makes it all about himself and how well he managed the situation. Fuck him!

1994???? Back when we were non-league nobodies? Back before Arsene Wenger "built" us, huh? Ah, good days - but thank God Wenger came along and took our nothing little club and made us the Kings of Europe that we - oh, hang on...

That squad always looked like they were on a stag-do in Blackpool. I fucking loved that.

And Eddie Jones. Don't really follow rugby but I've been reading how Jones has transformed England into a team that even the All Blacks are fearful of.

I honestly believe until we have a board that care about on field success and not capital gains then Arsenal will remain in limbo.
A manager has to have pressure to pull out his best and the players best. Our players can get away with murder and then get given a week off in turkey to chill out with hot women.
2007 is the year Arsenal as we know it was lost. Can you imagine Wenger when Dein was sacked and then Stan said just make me money Arsene and you have a job for life don't worry about trophies we are a going to be a booming buisness and the fans will keep coming because they love the club.

Ok Stan I'm in see u David

There was a story floating around recently that it was Wenger who had advised Dein to go in for Bergkamp and that Rioch knew nothing of the signing until the player arrived.

I know Ty and John Cross believe it, not sure I do :rubchin:

No it wasn't. I think it was Phillipe Auclair that claimed in one of his books (back in the late 90's or early 2000's) that Dein met Wenger at some European football conference and Wenger advised Dein that Bergkamp was very unhappy in Italy and was very "gettable". Dein phoned Rioch and said "I can get you Bergkamp" and Rioch said "fuck yeah". Dein then signed Bergkamp. Rioch had nothing to do with the signing. Wrighty has confirmed this in a few interviews as well, that Rioch did not sign Bergkamp.
