How often did Van Persie actually ever play in a partnership with Bergkamp? Not that many times & certainly not enough to justify holding it against him that they didn’t go on to form a great partnership. At the end of the day, if you want to win things you need an RVP.

I was at Stoke when he acted stupidly & I shouted at him for being **** but the fact is you need someone like him if you want to be successful.

Can be quiet all game, drift in & out, but then pop up with a piece of magic to turn a game.

He's a big game player too. 2 chances at The Bridge, 2 goals & 3 pts. Great goal against Liverpool, last minute equaliser last night (and what a strike) to rescue a point.

He'll gets sent off, he'll drive you mad at times but ultimately its those flashes of brilliance that keeps him on the pitch & will always mean we have a chance of scoring at any time.

Quartz like all of us got used to having "reliable geniuses" on the pitch and wants more of the same. Unfortunately, RvP is a flawed genius and until the son of Pires or Henry turns up then RvP is pretty much essential to this current team.

You are nitpicking on the timescale that RvP has or has not been fit.

I have had to use approximations because I am not going to spend hours on the net researching his exact injury timescales, but out of four and a half seasons, he has had two serious injuries and a host of other smaller ones.

I am solidly in favour of replacing him, though as I said, I would not sell him if we could not replace him.

I think we can get a faster, stronger and more consistent player than Van Persie, one who is less selfish and less of a hothead.

Yes we would much rather have a team of denilsons, songs, and diabys who show fuck all passion - put in mediocre , shit , then mediocre performances every other week.

Now Cesc is out v.Persie is by far the best player we have, shows some passion, and cares. If we got rid of v.Persie and Gallas - our team on a whole would be full of gutless and spinless players who will see Arsenal as nothing but a top 6 prem team.

IMO it is vital that we tie v.Persie down with a new contract!

You are wrong to lump Diaby and Denislon together with Song.

Song is an oafish individual who looks half asleep and shows little emotion or movement on the pitch.

Denilson and Diaby give their all, though their all is sadly not good enough at present.

You have not taken into account my whole post.

I do not deny that Van Persie is in good form right now, but that has only been for the last few games.

He is inconsistent, overplays the ball, ignores team mates who are in better positions for ego reasons, can too readily drift out of games, has failed to form a striking partnership in over four seasons at the club, has a poor temperament and is not the fastest of players.

In his merit, he is capable of producing a goal from nothing, has a good first time shot, and usually works hard.
