Wenger's priority is a central defender however, and it is felt that Chiellini could be the answer, with the Italian expected to cost around £10 million.

Arsenal and Man City on alert as Yobo prepares to turn down Everton contract
Joseph Yobo is ready to turn down the offer of a new contract this summer and opt to see out the final 12 months on his current deal.
The Nigeria centre-back has become increasingly concerned at a lack of starting opportunities at Goodison Park after slipping beind Phil Jagielka and Joleon Lescott in the pecking order, and is in no hurry to commit himself to a new deal.
Everton boss Moyes is likely to invite offers now, rather than risk losing Yobo for nothing next season.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is a confirmed admirer of the 28-year-old and has identified central defence as a priority area for strengthening, but he could face competition from Manchester City.
what do you reckon; Yobo any good for us

The St Etienne midfielder, Blaise Matuidi, has long been linked with Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger, and he has now admitted that he will be having talks about a move as soon as the season finishes next week.
The Director of Football at the French club, Damien Comolli, is a longtime friend of Wenger, and used to work as Arsenal’s Chief European Scout so it is believed that he will smooth the way for Matuidi to move to the Emirates.
Matuidi said yesterday: “I asked myself questions at the end of August after Arsenal showed their interest,â€

The form of William Gallas has been one of few positives when conversing about Arsenal's rear-guard, and the Frenchman - who seems to have been granted a new footballing lease of life since the seizure of his captain's armband - has attracted interest from Ligue 1 heavyweights, Paris Saint Germain, and Olympique de Marseille.
According to Sport, speculation is rife in France that Arsenal - and Gallas - are ready to do business, with the Gunners perhaps using funds generated from the proposed sale to help finance a bid for long-term target Mamadou Sakho.
Any bid would presumably hinge on Arsenal having replacements in mind and, if Sakho proved too costly, then Newcastle United's Sebastien Bassong, Fulham's Brede Hangeland, Stoke City's Abdoulaye Faye, and Bolton Wanderer's Gary Cahill, could all be pursued.
Arsene Wenger, though, would no doubt be keen to hang on to his elder statesmen. He recently opined that if the club were to recruit this summer, then the player's brought in would have to be experienced, as his squad brags enough inexperience and rawness.

ARSENE WENGER will test the backing of the Arsenal board with a £15million move for Fulham defender Brede Hangeland.
The unhappy Gunners boss has been offered the club’s ‘unequivocal support by chief executive Ivan Gazidis following a long meeting this week.
And now Wenger intends to cash in on promises of financial backing by making a club record bid for a defender.
Wenger is still angry that he has been blamed by fans for refusing to spend big money in the transfer market.
The Frenchman feels he has been left to carry the can by a board that promises major funds for new signings but rarely delivers.
He will not back down in his pursuit of Norway international Hangeland and expects Arsenal to meet Fulham’s asking price.
The 27-year-old cost just £3.7m from Danish side FC Copenhagen 18 months ago.
But 6ft 4in Hangeland’s value has rocketed this season on the back of solid performances.
Now Wenger believes he is just the man he needs to plug the holes in his leaky defence.
The Gunners chief knows opposite number Roy Hodgson will not easily part with the defender, who still has two years left on his Fulham contract.
But the hard-up Cottagers are in no position to turn down £15m and Wenger has made it clear he sees this issue as a test of Arsenal’s commitment to challenge for major honours next season.

Arsene Wenger is set to move for Everton defender Joleon Lescott after discovering Philippe Senderos wants to quit the Emirates Stadium.
England international Lescott is one of Premier League central defenders on the summer shopping list of the Gunners boss with Bolton's Gary Cahill, West Ham star Matthew Upson, Fulham's Norway international Brede Hangeland and Middlesbrough's David Wheater also believed to be targets.

Arsène Wenger has dismissed speculation that he wants to sign Marouane Chamakh.
The 25-year-old Moroccan striker has enjoyed a productive season for Bordeaux in France, scoring 10 goals in 31 appearances. However, he has been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 leaders.
Arsenal are reportedly among Chamakh’s admirers but Wenger denied any interest at his pre-match press conference.
