I hate Sleazyjet, I really do, its so disorganised, but I'll bite my tongue for 166 quid each.

Hate the fact you don't get a seat number - however we were lucky last April and got the two seats on their own with a nice lot of room over the wing.
The last two times we've been to Cyprus we have flown with Easyjet. The walk from North Terminal to the gate is a pain in the arse but Easyjet themselves have been excellent. The aircraft have been very clean, the staff have been courteous and efficient, flights have left on time and it's been one of the more pleasurable methods of getting there. I'd rather fly with them than I would first choice. They are just like "inner city highrise" airlines! Fucking horrible. The Joy of Cesc wrote:Just booked flights for self and OH for a week in April. £333 for us both with Sleazyjet, inc bags and credit card booking fee, but for some reason they're not offering speedy boarding at either end.

Don't have enough Airmiles yet for a freebie on BA.

Flew Cyprus Airways last week.Mikegooner87i wrote:Cyprus Airway my friend... may not sound very good but i find that they give the best service of any airline i have used to fly to cyprus and i got 5 times a year minimum!
Have just moved back from Larnaca after almost 4 years this time. The Joy of Cesc wrote:I know - there's a couple on Regina who retired out there - lost about 30 quid a week on their pension coming in from the UK because of exchange rates. It has to arrive in sterling then get converted when it arrives. A real struggle for them.SPUDMASHER wrote:I can't believe how much the whole place is changing. The redevelopment of Poseidonous Avenue looks good but has taken away a lot of the character of the place. Once the work on the new Marina down at Banana tree bay gets going then it is going to destroy one of the nicest coastal views in the area. The bloody roadworks along there are a nightmare as it is already. Just think, there are four more years of that disruption. God only knows how far some of those diversions are going to take you.
I was surprised at just how quiet it was as well. People are staying away in their droves this year. I know there is a credit crunch but the real cost occurs when you get there not before. The euro appears to be destroying the place and many of the locals are regretting ever accepting it. Of course, the real problem isn't the euro as much as it is the fact that the Cypriots didn't devalue their own currency before transferring to it. That fact, combined with the current strength of the euro has seen the cost inflate by more than 35%. We often buy clothes when we are there as they are marginally cheaper than here. Not this year though, they were much dearer than here.
We have a lot of ex-pat friends out there and many of them are coming home this year. Those that live on pensions etc. simply cannot afford it there anymore. It's a bloody shame that their retirement plans are being scuppered by the financial climate.
It was quiet when we there, first week, yeah maybe cos schools hadn't broken up but didn't seem to improve much in the second week
the electricity board were digging up the road along Tombs of the Kings, we asked the guy in Karlina how long it was going to take. "ah yes" he says with a wry smile "well, first theres the electric, then the phone people, then the gas people, then someone else. It might be filled in in 10 years!"
They're good and they fly from Stansted (20 minutes from mine) but they are a tad on the expensive side. It's a shame that Easyjet only go from Gatwick in the south.Mikegooner87i wrote:Cyprus Airway my friend... may not sound very good but i find that they give the best service of any airline i have used to fly to cyprus and i got 5 times a year minimum!
i refuse to ever use gatwick! from where i live it takes longer to get to the fucking airport with all the traffic and the maddness then it does to get to cyprus!SPUDMASHER wrote:They're good and they fly from Stansted (20 minutes from mine) but they are a tad on the expensive side. They're definitely my favourites to fly there with but as I say, a tad too expensive. The other thing I don't get with flying there is why everyone quotes 4hrs 20mins flight time. Then once you're on board they tell you anything from 3 hrs 50mins to 5 hrsMikegooner87i wrote:i refuse to ever use gatwick! from where i live it takes longer to get to the fucking airport with all the traffic and the maddness then it does to get to cyprus!SPUDMASHER wrote:They're good and they fly from Stansted (20 minutes from mine) but they are a tad on the expensive side. I always fly Cyprus airways, in all my years of using the airline i probably had 2 or 3 'bad experiances' and all of them were before they started flying the new airbus a-330. Since they have been flying these planes the seating is miles more comfortable, the entertainment is good, the food is OK (and i fucking hate plane food) and i have always been offered drinks throughout the flight... not to mention the air stewaress's are much fitter and they wear shoter skirts!
We went with them once, they were fine, food good - and the stewardess did a sterling job nipping up to the flight deck to find out how Arsenal were getting on.SPUDMASHER wrote:They're definitely my favourites to fly there with but as I say, a tad too expensive.
