As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
To me, it depends on in how many competitions we'll take part until spring. We aren't able face league, CL and Cup the whole season. Remember that City don't have any games in Europe in mid-week and even a wider squad they can take advantage of.
Scenario 1: losing on CL qualifiers and knocked out in Europa League group stage, we'll finish 3rd
Scenario 2: reaching CL 1/4 finals we'll be crowded by City to 5th!
However, we're already top of the table for almost 3 months now. Let's enjoy this until Saturday!
If Wenger was to amaze us by signing two decent players last minute....maybe 4th. But I really don't think that will happen.
I think we're reliant on our major players avoiding big injuries, so if Arshavin, RVP, Cesc , Sagna, Clichy and probably Gallas play 90% of our games then we may get 4th.
If we start badly there will be no coming back.
I still think Wenger will go at the end of the season by 'mutual consent'
I voted "Worse" because I think we'll finish 6th behind Spartak, VictimFC, ManU$A, Middle Eastlands and the blue scousers.
Still relying on;
squad player-quality in key positions (eg Almunia, Denilson, Bendtner);
players who are either injury-prone or have big fitness question marks over them (Rosicky, Eduardo, Van Persie);
kids who'll be proclaimed as world beaters in the early stages of the Carling Cup but who'll disappear by the New Year and
players who are utter, utter shite (Song, Eboue, Diaby).
Obvious weaknesses (DM) still have been ignored by Wenger and added to his increasing tendency to make bizarre decisions (Arshavin FA Cup semi last season) and piss about with formations I can't see anything other than a disastrous season which shall begin when we get knocked out of Europe by Celtic.
As it stands at the moment, I fear we're finish outside the top 4, but if signings to strengthen are in place before the window slams shut then I reckon 4th place. I can't say that I'm looking forward to the coming season.
Cant believe most have gone for 5th ( Man City Rosetinters ). I think Liverpool will be 4th and not half the threat they were last year. Their pre-season has been a disaster, and we're in a much better position for start of season. chelski 1st, man usa 2nd, everton 5th, man city 6th, villa 7th.
Really depends how healthy we stay this year for me. I actually think we can challenge, but I don't think we'll do it defensively. We'll score the goals so hopefully we can finish games off this season . I honestly think we can get 2nd, but it all depends how healthy we stay. I don't see how we can finish below citeh this season so I see us staying in the top 4 for sure.
If the fitness of our players is the determining factor in where we might finish in the league, then I'm afraid it's almost certainly a relegation battle we're facing!!

I like our chances against the giant clubs wolves, birmingham, and hull

i don't see mancity finishing above everton too. everton has consistency, a good squad and a team that is together for a while now. city has adebayor
Exiled-Gooner wrote:I voted worse....on the basis that IF wenger doesn't add to the squad and continues with his failed policy.It's not just shitty but villa and everton who will aiming for that 4th place as there both came close last season but either bottled it or injuries to key areas put paid to them but i don't expect them to do the same......but hope there do!!!!!
Well hears my list:
1. Chelsea.
2. Liverpool
3. Arsenal
4. Man UTD
5. Villa.
Chelsea have the manager and team to see the season through, Liverpool will be strong, and may win Torres, etc stay fit.
Our great leader will see the light, buy two players and we finish with a strong run after being 6th...
