Time to call a Truce?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You see, it's these type of statements - where you (and others of the rosetinted perspective) seem to think that anyone that states the facts as they see them with regard to the team is somehow less of a supporter - that get people's backs up.

I think you'll find all realists still get behind the team, mate.

Secondly - There was never a war on here. It was only in your mind and the likes of Swale's mind when he went through his "I'm gonna insult and abuse everyone that hasn't sucked Arsene's cock on here" phase! :-P  All the aggression and abuse only came from one side of the divide...

Anyway, let's all continue to cheer the lads on because if we win this one it'll be one of our best yet. Not quality wise, but adversity wise. 8)

It's not that. I know that everyone is an Arsenal fan.

But what it can come across as is, how can you read on here people slagging off (rightly or wrongly) the team and think the very same people are behind the team ? Imagine the scenario, you read on here a poster saying "Theo's shit, Diaby is Poor, Eboue couldn't pass wind" would you think the same person wil be going "Come on Arsenal, we fcuking love you"

It's the same as what was mentioned on the England thread, something along the lines of "How can I think they are scum (Stevie G, JT, Lamps) for 11 months of the year then cheer them at the world cup" Well how can people read all the negativity that goes on, then expect those people to be behind the team.

I think the bold part is exactly right Al. It's about Arsenal isn't it? Not the individual sum of it's parts but Arsenal as a whole.

Everybody has their personal favourites and certain players they just don't take to. But when all 11 cross the line at 3pm on a Saturday they become Arsenal for those 90 minutes. And no matter who I think world class, Sunday league class, or Almunia I support them all as one. Arsenal.

After the game analysis goes on. During the build up to the next game it grows. Wenger is the same, he may never come out and say it on a forum but when he cuts the youth players or sells waning first teamers you can be sure he tells them why.

I'm sure his talk with Kolo went along the lines of, You've been a great player for me but lately your standards have slipped. I'm looking to bring a replacement in so you won't be first choice anymore. If you want first team football it would be best if you left, I've accepted an offer from Man City.

But he wouldn't have told the press that would he?

Lord, im sure there are two of you, a reasonable one - and one that writes tosh like that - where, in any respect of my post in any sort of arrogance? The arrogance is for you to look down on people that disagree with you, if you actually bothered to read my posts i have been critical of Wenger, Walcott, Diaby, Silvestere, Almunia to name but a few this season.

My reference to truce, was more to say there is no point having more "denilson is shit" threads, as we cannot change that, and at such a critical point in the season whoever wears the shirt should be supported.

As i say, i enjoy a lot of your posts, but your attitude to certain people inparticular on here is sometimes very very wide of the mark.

i say no to the truce.

The whole point in these forums is banter, as long as it is healthy polite and meaningful, each to their own.

as fans/supporters (BG) we can say what we want about the team because the reason we say it is the same for all of us.
