If I was Cesc...

You should be wanting Arsenal to get rid of the weaker players and replace them with better rather than asking Cesc to go over some self pitty crap. :banghead: :banghead:

And if we had a manager and board willing and able to do this very thing then I dont think the risk of cesc leaving would be as high  Indisputable facts show that up to now the people running our club cannot see that some of the players are not good enough and have either been unable to or unwilling to replace them with better players so if you are in cesc's shoes how long do you think it is fair to be expected to hang around with a club threading water ?

Our top players have always been cherry picked. Even when we've been top of the tree we've had Anelka, Overmars, Petit and others moving to bigger clubs

I agree with you but that is a different arguement mate - what I am saying is that if cesc looks around him and takes stock of the changes at the club in recent seasons then he will find it very hard to see an increase in quality on the playing staff. He knows that should he announce in the morning that he wants out of our club then most of the best clubs in europe would be in for him and right now I dont think he owes us any more of his career. Naturally people talk about barca being his ideal destination but if he decides that our club is not progressing enough and not doing enough to improve the quality then I dont think he will pigeon hole himself to just one of the spanish giants - basically it is up to the club to show cesc that he can win the trophies he craves with us but if they dont then he owes us nothing

I agree with you. I think we need to start with the injury prone players, apart from RVP as he is quality.

It's a good thing you aren't Cesc. I don't think he will leave just yet. I think it is all up to when AW leaves and I don't care how much we would get for Cesc because he is irreplaceable right now.

People right now are in chicken little mode

Hard to argue with you here, Augie.
Cesc obviously loves The Arsenal.
But, he's playing at a higher level than we, as a team, are.
As Arshavin has already said; we need 2 or 3 top class players to really compete at the highest level and win trophies.
If Cesc can make two or three times the money playing in sunshine in Spain, why would he hang around to play away matches in Wigan and Bolton?
I hope like hell he does stay. But he's been carrying an unfair burden for the past couple of seasons and ,without investment, it's looking less and less likely, imo.
And I'll almost be pissed off if we do invest heavily this off-season, because it will make me wonder WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T WE DO IT WHEN WE WERE IN WITH A REAL CHANCE OF WINNING THE LEAGUE (BOTH IN 2008 AND THIS SEASON!)????????

After this tie with Barca, even i fill like c...p, dont ask about cesk. but as mutch as i could figure in this two ties was? Where would you place cesc in that team? I dont think cesc has a regular place in barca for next two-three years, and thats what he is going to do use us to train than after two three years leave for good.

I'm desperate for Cesc to stay for Arsenal's benefit, and I believe he loves the club, but I cannot see him turning down the opportunity to play alongside Messi, Xavi etc. I think last night may have settled it for him, watching Diaby's aimlessness, Denilson's lack of ideas, Bendtner's lack of reliable control...I know we had lots of injuries but the two teams are in different galaxies.

Xavi is 30. He has a good 3/4 years left. I can see logically Barcelona wanting to bring Cesc in within the next year or so to bed him in and take over from Xavi.

If Cesc leaves the club before the age of 26 then it will prove that our "sustainable model" will never reach fruition. He will join the list of Cole, Reyes, Hleb, Adebayor and co. that ultimately realise that the club's ambitions do not meet their own, and we will be set back further by having to find the "new Cesc".

I think the guy is intelligent enough to realise that a move to the Nou Camp at the moment might actually harm his career in so much that he will become a squad rotation player. But given his roots, I would not begrudge him following the dream
