Exactly!

Its alright for them to repeatedly say 'y****' but we cant?

..on that note, it was good to sing that song at SHL again!

'Heyyyyyy, hey Y****! (YOU SCUM) I wanna knowwwwwww, where your captains gone!'

If you think its acceptable for Gooners to sing fascist songs - and lets be clear about this - it is literally a fascist chant - then that saddens me greatly.

Nothing to do with political correctness whatsoever. As olgit says, times have moved on for most people. Unfortunately there is a small minority who think racism is acceptable. I find that quite ironic when the team we support is one of the most ethnically/nationally diverse in the world.

Whilst I understand your concerns about the anti-semetic chants I don't think you've addressed the obvious point that they themselves have always and will always call themselves Y*ds.

It's like the N-word debate. Black people can call eachother N-word yet when others do it they become sensitive and aggressive.
If you want to respect yourself why address yourself and call your fellow man by that term?
Surely it only gives rise to others using that term to identify you?

Not trying to be controversial, I'm genuinely trying to make a serious point.

Yes, but like it or not, the n word IS offensive to many people and understandably so! Therefore, just because a section of childish, ignorant black pricks call themselves n*ggers, doesn't mean it's right for reasonable and intelligent people to use the word! - let the idiots call themselves n*ggers if they want, but lets not stoop to their level!

The **** argument is the same. We know that many people find it offensive, and we know that an idiotic minority of our fans take it further than the **** word, and making it impossible to ignore the anti-semitic connotation.

So a bunch of ignorant, idiotic Sp*rs fans use the **** word as a daft badge of honour - leave the *word censored* to it. We're better than that (or at least, I am) so why stoop to their level?

Interesting point is two African-American comedians, who both used that word a lot in their material (Richard Pryor, Paul Mooney) decided to stop using the word.
Pryor after a trip to Africa.
Mooney after the George from Seinfeld outburst.

"****" is a slightly different case because it is a legitimate word in use in Jewish circles, which was taken by anti-Semites who changed the pronounciation to turn it into a term of abuse.
It was then sort of "Reclaimed" by Spurs fans.

The N word was a term of abuse from the start, which in turn was sort of claimed by some African-Americans amongst themselves.
It is now used the word over by all races both as a term of abuse, and as term of affection depending on tone and context.

Yet I bet plenty of people are not happy with that.

Bottom line is there are people on this site who unrepentantly use other words for Spurs (Heebs/Sheenies) etc which are offensive, End of.

Just to clarify

I did address the point about Sp*rs supporters using the term themselves in my first post on this thread.

While I think its pretty pathetic to use the word at all, my specific concern was not with the use of word "****" but the use by Gooners of a specific chant used by the British Union of Fascists when they attacked Jews.
