Cesc....£30m? Kiss my arse!!!

safcftm wrote:hmm, fair enough, like with most of these deals involving players swapping sides, it is always difficult to tell the exact figure- if the figure wasnt £20m, it seems strange that eto'o would ask for 15% of the fee, and state that this amount is £2.75m. If he actually transferred for 35m euro's (about £30m), surely he would have asked for 15% of this figure

Anyway, i suppose it doesnt matter much either way- i still think the BBC article probably has it right, since it mentions figures in a legal case based on the transfer fee, but obviously the length of his contract would affect his worth so it might well be more than that now he is at Inter, presumably on a fairly long contract. At 29 his value will slowly start to decrease though, and so i certainly doubt anyone would be prepared to go above £30m for him, and i still think around the £20m mark is roughly what he'd go for

Still, like i say, it matters not- i doubt either of our sides will be signing him any time soon
No, unfortunately not :(

Reading between the lines, it seems entirely possible that poor Cesc has been suckered into this..... Barca, as they usually do around Presidential election time, make noises about wanting Cesc (albeit they have been noticably quieter about wanting him this year than the last two!) who then says it's about time he "went home".

But Barca lost money big time on Ibrahimovic and are just about to splash out on Villa....so maybe their "pursuit" of Cesc is just for show? If they truly are only offering £30m then they obviously don't really want him (they're not exactly short in midfield) - and Cesc himself would be mad to go. If they up the offer to £50m then maybe everyone is happy.....

I wonder whether the main reason this keeps surfacing is that Barca are still embarrassed (in a latin macho sort of way...) that they ever allowed him to leave in the first place!

its always politics with barca and real madrid
but i also think cesc wants to go which is the important thing here, what we must do as a club is to try and get the best deal possible , one which will benifet us as a football club and not one that will benefit the bank.

This is what I put in another thread.

"As for the deal.
Well Barca want Cesc. He’s a Barca boy a product of there youth and such transfer would be a coup.
Cesc wants to leave also.
However its up to us whether we sell. It would be stupid to hold him if he wants to go but that’s remember Barca need to buy out the 4 remaining years of his contract.
They think we owe them and since there will be no other clubs believe they can come in low. Hence the £30M

We should playhard ball. If they want him so much then they should pay. Let us not forget Barcelona is not in the same boat as Real or Citeh in terms of steady cash so they’re not that rich but they do some wealth.

If they’re not prepared to spend more then £30M then throwing Toure (£15M) still leaves us £5M short. I hear that Toure won’t come though.
We either take the full money or players to make up the difference. But it has to be players we need"

Adding to that if Ibrahimovic is swapped then I don't think we can keep Bendtner. As I don't think the two will get on and are both similar players.

Yes rebel, but I doubt any deal will benefit the team as that money will not be invested properly in the squad. How could it be, when we already need net spending now? I think the "Free" Chamakh is already proof enough of our attitude. I am sick, in advance  :D , because I know that the investment in the team will not take place.

Exactly right we could have bought Chamakh for in Jan. and his cotract hving 6 months left he would have been relatively cheap his goals could have given the boost we needed in the run in, instead we waited 6 months for a freebie. Thats tells you all you need to know about our ambitions and what we will do with Cesc' money
