Why was the flotilla thread locked?

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

REBEL GOONER odds move from 75/1 to EVENS!!!!.... not only has he denied locking the thread, but he's now shifting the blame onto his fellow MODS! - suspicious, if you ask me!

(PS - I think Spuddy, too )

g88ner wrote:So, which MOD locked the thread?

1. IHH (100/1 as he's already denied it)
2. REBEL (75/1 as he denied it, but not as quick as IHH  )
3. Dicko (50/1 as she hardly posts anymore :( )
4. Belfast (50/1 as he's not posted in ages :( )
5. TonySunders (50/1 - same reason as Belfast)
6. Gooner.ed (25/1 - maybe, but I think he would comment as he respects Quartz"y 8) )
7. Mike Francis (25/1 - too busy at Gooner towers to bother with the basement)

who else????

8. Chippy (10/1 - a known assassin, and involved with politics.... but has he been on here recently??)
9. DB10 (2/1 - commented on the thread himself... and even spoke of "TRYING" to keep the thread open!)
10. Spuddy?? EVENS - has history and posted in the basement yesterday
oi mate, do you accept brazilian reais???    if so i want R$ 100 on spuddie! :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:  8)

Or perhaps it really was,

im telling the truth. i was enjoying the thread because it was still in control, unlike other middle east threads which were a bit ott by both sides to be truthful.

Its a mods civil I knew this would happen as the pressure of my war hits them while Bren advances from the East.

True, but that should be your decision to make. When you've had enough of going round in circles, you stop and the thread naturally drops down the page and that's that.

I don't see a need to force an end to a popular thread that hasn't crossed any boundaries.

In fact, may I suggest a MOD exclusion zone around these political threads and suggest they hold fire until forum boundaries have been breached?

(I promise that no political view was expressed in that comment, by the way!)

Or do what Quartz did when USMartin had worn him down after 10,678 pages of debate about the board and say:

"we have to agree to disagree"

:-P

Yes, that was a classic response! 8)

And marc, I know it's splitting hairs, but I think it was VforVictory, not Quartz
After that the heavy artillery was brought out...

I know mate, was only kidding

I think it'll remain a spuddy mystery forever. I've no idea which MOD locked the thread spuddy did it! but hopefully he'll do the decent thing and unlock the thread unlock it spuddy and then we can all move on.

It's just a shame it was locked without an explanation why, spuddy? why? but never mind

Wasn't me - as Reb says I would have posted a reason. I have no idea who locked it or why - it was civil and quite interesting TBH.

A shame, but I won't unlock a thread locked by a fellow mod. Hopefully the mod in question will unlock it...

i think it should stay locked now as there isnt much point in bumping it back up. nothing much to add for either side i would say,

Think this thread raises some interesting points.

I like Quartz's idea of an Rule's and Ettique sticky. 8)

Also thought maybe it's time for some new mods. A rest is good as a change!
Before anyone asks I'm not asking, hinting or would even personally consider doing the role!

But it seems to me out of the 10 mods we only see around 3/4 regulars and others are rarely here.
Gooner.ed and MF would still need to be Mods obviously.
But maybe some 'New blood' would help the forum and ease the work off the regulars.

Thoughts :?:
