As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
They Just won the world cup, they're all happy (and probably had a drink!) and his mates are larking around with a Barca shirt.... big deal!
They are just a bunch of lads in their 20s - people shouldn't take their every action so seriously. It's banter. Cheeky yes, but not worth getting upset about.
I'd agree 100% - the problem is recent history has many Gooners very insecure about Arsenal's desire to put the best team on the pitch and keep its best players - and that holds true even if my doubts about the Board's ambition are invalid.
The Board has a serious PR problem in its desire to remain secretive about its ambitions and how it seeks to ahcieve them and how all these decision since 2005 realte to this. At the very least the Board's siilence leaves room for confusion uncertainty and doubt. And that silence combined with the actions that speak far louder than the words they have spoken do has everyone very worried, and this is why some more complete or candid answers might benefit the Board. as well as the supporters
What are you on about?
If this had happened pre-2005, your self-determined date when Arsenal apparently began to implode, people would be equally pissed off. Imagine some c*nts forcing an Ajax shirt onto Bergkamp in 2000 for example. This has nothing to do with the board. Rather it's to do with a bunch of jumped up Spanish twats failing to show respect to our club, our fans and a current player of ours.

Personally what pisses me off is that all these blatant Barca attempts to force a deal through on the cheap are seemingly being condoned by the same man who claims he loves & respects Arsenal (a claim I still just about believe, for now) & who stood in an Arsenal shirt, with the captain’s armband on, in front of the cameras only a few months ago & said in response to the exact same sort of Barca tactics that Arsenal deserved to be shown more respect than that.
I have zero problem with Cesc for wanting to go, I can understand any number of reasons he might have for doing so. But given the above I don’t think it’s too much to want him to have said at some point, in private, to his Barca mates that as much as he clearly wants to join them he wants to do it the right way & asked them to cut out this sort of shit & leave the clubs to make it happen, or not. If they’re all as close as they claim/seem to be then he shouldn’t have had a problem saying it & they shouldn’t have had a problem respecting his wish.
Ultimately, either Barca have to pay something close to what he’s worth or Cesc has to understand that as much as he wants to go we shouldn’t have to sell him on the cheap. He was only too happy to sign the new contract, with a pay increase, that puts us in that situation so he cant have any complaints now. And by encouraging all these quotes, culminating in this sort of act, even if only by not putting a stop to them, he’s essentially going along with Barca’s attempts to force through a deal on the cheap. Which goes against his own words, & I don’t see why anyone shouldn’t be pissed off at that.

This I agree 100% with - understand the reasons behind his wish to move and I dont really have a problem with his failure to speak publicly about it but I do expect that he should have put a stop to this bullshit from his barca team-mates anytime the media are around
Carlos Puyol is a director of Arsenal FC. It was his idea to redevelop Highbury so that eventually Cesc Fabregas would be in the position to have a Barca shirt pulled over his head.
P.S Carlos Puyol also suggested the Wonder of You.
I guess I should add a caveat that, in the event a deal has already been done between us & Barcawhores & has been throughout, then I retract my posts in this thread & depending on the fee will either join Sid in Arsene’s attic waiting for his return from South Africa with a rusty axe or, heaven help me, join US Martin’s campaign to euthanize the board (& the rest of the world with them) syllable by syllable.
yeah but the media will have a feild day with this one cause they hate us but look it if it happens it happens and if so better he leave tomorrow than september

If i was cesc id be seriously pissed about it
Pissed off???? He won the world cup yesterday!!
Winning the world cup must be a truly amazing feeling, and I'm sure he's so deliriously happy at the moment that I doubt very much he even cares about something as utterly trivial as a mate forcing a Barca shirt over his head whilst larking about!!

Seriously? "The Board" AGAIN??!!
Martin, this has got fuck all to do with the board - it's people getting all touchy and precious just because a bunch of deliriously happy young lads have been a bit cheeky with a Barca shirt. End of.
People should be able to seperate what the Arsenal board are up to and the prank Puyol, Pique and Reina pulled whilst larking around tonight.
You're trying to once again steer a conversation towards the board, and it's just not necessary. I'm sure you have enough threads on that by now, surely? bump them instead!
No the point is simple - the Board's actions have had wide-reaching implications on the club. Tell me the same thing would be happening the same way if the Board was showing more ambtiion for the team it puts on the pitch. Seriously. Maybe its "Six Degrees of the Board" Reina puts Barca Shirt on Cesc, Barca wants to buy Cesc, Cesc wants to join Barca because Arsenal can't win things,Arsenal can't win things because it cuts spending too much, Arsenal cuts spending by investing less in football team, Arsenal has to cut spending because it decides not sell Highbury as planned - there's six degrees.
Besides as I said quite clearly even if I'm worng it raises the issue of the Board having awful PR and not communicating what its really trying to do and how these decisions make doing that possible.
Hell Tony Adams WAS ready to leave but because the Board weren't so desperate to generate cash to pay off things by selling players no one really knew for sure till years later because the club at least presented information that was consistent with its actions and views. Maybe if they did that now we'd know whether to worry about this. As I said earlier to me it means little either way other than during this time period we are clearly more of a selling club still and this is hardly ressuring given that alone. And the Board is the ultimate decider on these things. It's their club after all.
yes winning the world cup is probably a amazing feeling but tomorrow morning when he sees the media jump on this he is bound to be annoyed with his mates practically making a prick out of him infront of the world after all he is the captain of arsenal

You're like a dog with a bone. You can twist everything to make it an issue of the board. It's just something you're going to repeat over and over and over and over and over....
It's just not necessary in every post. It's ruining threads. Can't you just put a little comment about the board on your signature and br done with it.
I'd rather you had your own thread and kept bumping it, to be honest. It's just getting silly.

You so mis-understand me - its YOU I want to euthanize with my words HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH
But seriously I don't want to euthanize the Board I just want whoever runs Arsenal to show some of the same ambition they were showing prior to 2005 if not maybe a bit more even. If the current Board showed that ambition moving forward I would happily back them.
The one problem is the lack of ambition rthey have shown since 2005 till now would mean showing that ambition now will cost a lot more than if they had shown more of it all along.
