Yeah I see what you mean, it's more specific in terms of players but I guess on a wider scale the principle is the same "We lost today but at least man u got a draw" ?marcengels wrote:Difference is you're not celebrating what an individual player did- and I think celebrating 8 draws on the pools is a bit different to some c**t from Chelsea getting a hattrick, contributing to them getting 3 points - don't you think?clockendal wrote:What about the pools ? You'd be relying on other teams getting results (draws mainly) people have been doing that for years no ? Or a weekend accumulator ? It is symptomatic of modern football.DanielD wrote:You're talking as if I wanted Malouda to score these goals.. It's only a game (the Fantasy PL, that is). It means just about fuck all to me, so don't patronize over me or any other "modern fan"..
It's also do with all this shit about assists, stats and all that bollocks, which leads us to argue how about how much percentage of possession we had over someone else.
I've sat next to all sorts of people who, at the game, start talking about "oh we lost today but at least I got so many points because Rio ferdicunt didn't concede any goals or some shit.
it's all bollocks (for me, that is)
In terms of stats, yes that is part and parcel of the modern game and personally the only stat that matters is the score. End of.
