If the players are so concerned about their teams, world cup bids or tournaments then don't do things that are wrong and give the newspapers an excuse to drag up dirt.
people all make mistakes though, no need to be named and shamed.
Maybe the editor of the mirror likes his wife to shit in his mouth whilst calling him a bitch, it doesnt mean it is worthy of being printed and read by millions. If it doesnt affect his ability to play football (like if he was out on drugs all the time etc) then i dont think we have any right to know about his private life.
Rooney is in a job like everyone else, and just because it is a much more high profile and well paid job than most, doesnt give us the right to know the intimate details of his personal life. The people who wrote these stories probably have partners, maybe i'll go up and ask them how big their wifes tits are, or how many fingers you can stuff up her minge. I wont, however, because its none of my fucking business
And if papers want to print things at certain times just to sell papers as they are a business then fine, but they dont need to go around pretending they are somehow patriotic and giving a fuck about the tournments at the same time
This is my point; he is in a position of privilege where he is looked up to by millions. I wouldn't want my child to grow up idolising somebody like this.
If its anything to go by his world cup form and recent prem form has been affected.
Its not like asking the editor about his private life with his wife. Because its not with Shreks wife is it? Its with some hooker in public places so its open for anyone to see. What he does with his wife is private, behind closed doors and all but not a cheap (not so cheap actually

) hooker.

These WAGS are nothing without their high profile husbands so if she fancies a wee shopping spree to "Cricket" she will just have to accept it and ask Terry's wife for advice.
Maybe she'll stay with him for the sake of their young baby? Or because he is the love of her life who she has been with since they were kids and he wasn't rich? Or because she's catholic and doesnt believe in divorce? Colleen was first photographed by the press while at school - that she's now rich and groomed is incidental; she married her childhood sweetheart and he ended up rich. She hardly targeted him for his money and profile. After all if its money she wants, a massive divorce settlement is the way to go.

Shrek sold his wedding coverage rights to the media in a deal reportedly worth 2.5 million . For me that makes his private life fair game . Footballers , even those who play for a club like United can follow different paths . You either do a Paul Scholes and keep a low profile and do your talking on the pitch or you go the Beckham route and be prepared to have the media camped in your backyard 24/7 .
I feel bad for Coleen but it's clear she has used the fame and media spotlight that being married to Shrek has given her and made a career out of it . Unfortunately for her she will now have to experience the dark side of fame because of her whore loving hubby .

For me, it doesn't. I can't say I'm in favour of already rich footballers selling the rights to photograph and print what should be a private day but just because he has done this, doesn't mean that every other part of his private life is suddenly fair game. He sold the rights to photograph his wedding, not to print any dirt they can find about his private life. If selling the wedding photos somehow meant that every aspect of his private life was suddenly fair game for journalists then i reckon he'd have wanted more than 2.5 million for them

Rooney is famous. The news generally consists of information relating to famous people. End of.

It does, but there should be some control over what they can and cant print. Being famous because you are a good footballer doesnt give anyone the right to print the most intimate details of your private life. People who feel that "he's famous so he can't complain" are generally just very jealous- if they were famous they would quickly change their tune and feel that their ability as a footballer shouldnt affect their right to have a life outside the spotlight at the same time

Safc, I do see your point about how footballers' private lives are none of our business and that they make mistakes and I agree that the journalists who print and write this stuff are idiots and do try to ruin people and things (World Cup bid) for a story. But when you're a footballer playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world you do have to act in a certain way (be 'whiter than white.) You're a role model for so many people and you have to act that way and Rooney, who should've learnt his lesson from the whole granny-prostitute thing (when he was a lot younger), clearly hasn't. And when you do allow a national magazine exclusive access to your wedding for £2.5 million in my opinion you open your private life to the public, and you do have to be even more careful in case it rebounds on you.

It is not "News".
It is gossip/celebrity tittle tattle of little importance.
Would prefer if it was kept private as there is a family and young kid involved but at the same time Rooney cannot expect to get up to stuff like this and it be kept quiet, not with the snooping media culture that exists in this country. Where even Prince Charles had his private phone conversations leaked, and a former newspaper editor who bugged private phones now works for the Prime Minister.

A dumb thing to do - he's been caught before and that cost him a small fortune - he more or less bank rolled her initial TV programme.....also if she decides to divorce him - he could lose out on seeing his son in the early years (properly)....dull crunt!

Rooney etc

He is a role model whether he likes it or not , look at magazines aimed at primary school kids like MOTD full of pictures of his plug ugly face. England players were woeful in world cup and he was one of the worst behaved in ranting at the support. He was rumbled during the world cup bolting to Caribbean as fast as he could knowing the storm was coming. He deserves his fate, he is thick we all know that but it is in the publics interest and thats that!!

The unhealthy obsession society has with celebrity is often used by the likes of the Rooneys as a significant source of income. Todays' news is the downside which neither can complain too much about without appearing hypocrites.
I read an england website blog saying that the newspapers concerned should be boycotted. The article said that we we should be thinking of Colleen and Kai. In terms of duty of care I think that job is more Waynes.
Personally, I do not like the air of invincibility that these very rich individuals exude. I don't take pleasure in these events but if they serve to remind these people that consequences exist irrespective of groupee manna then all well and good.
