The ones in South Africa are like any people who have been treated as an "underclass", like American or English blacks.*

Some are nice but the problem is that now we have a new generation who have grown up in a township setting, thus do not know safety or security, and who have that (entirely justified in any black who lived under apartheid) sense of entitlement, which is IMO undeserved.

Violence + feelings of entitlement = mutilated white people.

*I am not including Aborigines as they are treated like the Untouchables in India.

Oh, and I would have said the Aussies are like that. Not Kiwis, mind.

Well if you hadn't made them stop abusing the blacks and made 'em a pariah (I do not include myself in this as my grandfather was in Lesotho at this point and Dad/Uncles in the US) they wouldn't have the mentality.

THIS. i really dont think that people's core attitudes differ from country to country, had a guy on my course who was sound as you like and i went out with a WSA girl for a bit (made giving blood a bit embarrassing though ) its the standard 'you get wankers everywhere' kind of thing, there are english bigots, scottish bigots, irish bigots, aussie bigots, american bigots and south african bigots. it's just the way of the world.

Some other posters on this one have taken the racial line but I was really refering to arrogance / rudeness and just sited the one racist girl as another example of a WSA I met that I didn't like, albeit for different reason.

The latest election had promises from both parties to "stop the boats"...shows how bad the problem is getting.

The more foreign nationals in a country the less of its identity seems to remain.

I've worked with two white female South Africans and never noticed any rudeness. They were both babes though, so I admit I wasn't always paying attention to what they were saying.
