Agreed some perspective is needed. It was a nothing tackle that did Valencia, certainly not maliciously intended. I don't think there is an increase in thugism in the game in general TBH. I think it is more a combo of faster lighter framed players and a general lapse in the teaching of the fine art of tackling. Of course there are one or two thugs out there but in all honesty I watched far worse tackles and fouls throughout the 70's 80's and 90's on a weekly basis.marcengels wrote:You're wrong mate.Big_G wrote:hope Valencia and Zamora make good recoveries and come back strong.

Let's actually look at the tackles, and concentrate on the ones that are actually dangerous and reckless, before we lose credibility by moaning and lumping all the challenges into one basket.
The challenge last night was a nothing challenge.
Note: Hope the guy gets well and can play again. I think it might have been a combination of the pitch and a tangle of legs with the defender as he went down. Rooney also seemed to get his foot caught in the turf earlie....
Yep, after the 29th leg break, you were never the same player againDB10GOONER wrote:Agreed some perspective is needed. It was a nothing tackle that did Valencia, certainly not maliciously intended. Valencia is not a despicable crunt like piglips or Rooney or a diving geebag like Nani or Anderson or Rooney. He seems like a decent guy for a filth player and I hope he recovers fully. I've been where he is at the moment on a couple of occasions () and physically & mentally it is just awful.

Agree with DB10 and marc and this injury was nothing like Eduardos assaultDB10GOONER wrote:Agreed some perspective is needed. Agreed. I've been to Manchester too & it really is an absolute shithole.DB10GOONER wrote:Valencia is not a despicable crunt like piglips or Rooney or a diving geebag like Nani or Anderson or Rooney. I don't care if the fucker never kicks a ball again! there I said it! and I mean it! When I heard about it last night I gave a wry smile, and any gooner who is honest with themselves will have had similar feelings. I admit there are other I would have preferred to get injured, but they didn't so tough.DB10GOONER wrote:
