Still utterly pissed off

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Rob - Admin wrote:So 3 days after the most shameful of results I'm still pissed off. Usually after a bad result 48 hours is enough before the optimist in me creeps back and I'm back in love with Arsenal. I just can't shake the shame of losing so weakly to spurs on Saturday.

Tonight I am doing something I have never done in my 23 years of supporting Arsenal, and that is to choose to do something else over Arsenal. I'm not going to watch, listen or follow the game. You know how it is usually, it's only weddings or funerals that take priority over an Arsenal game - but tonight I just can't be fucked.

Is anyone else feeling like this - before anyone throws any accusations as a school kid there were me and one other kid who were Arsenal, I remember wetting myself in 1985 I think it was that Ian Allison made it into double figures as a leading goal scorer with 11!

For the first time I've found myself looking at Wenger these past three days and started to wonder. Apologies for this nonsensical post - just need to dump my thoughts somewhere.
Watching them when they play like Saturday 2nd half leaves me feeling numb and hating the game. Still love the Arsenal and can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon(3pm kick off would be nice eh Sky ) but it's just getting depressing.

I'm not an uber-fan but I'm also starting to hate the gooners that sit around me at the Grove. Away games are good for the banter, the chanting(why can't we get some new bloody songs), the journey back when we get a result but even the away games are starting to get a breed of tosser, I blame the away ticket scheme.

I'm starting to feel like a bloody junkie who keeps shooting up and getting small highs but a long downer, which comes quickly and lasts too bloody long.

We don't have to win every game but can't we at least give it a go. Why do we have to keep playing the same way when it's getting nowhere. Why do we keep players that are clearly not good enough. Why will I be standing in the Deadly Doug stand screaming abuse everytime Ashley Young goes down far too f***ing too easily come Saturday lunch time ?

I only know the answer to one of those questions, the others only our club and manager can sort out.

Till then we carry on and keep our fingers crossed that AA23 stops running down Hleb-like culdesacs. Walnutt figures out how to run WITH the ball, Cesc comes out of the fog that's stilting him this season, Fabianski keeps defying the reality of the fact that he's crap and AW remembers that he used to be a formidable manager not some blinkered old fool too stubborn to change. :( :barscarf:

BTW did watch the game in the pub but expected to lose or draw so wasn't disappointed.

If we have the fans match against the mackems this season I shall travel over to it. Hopefully I will also get 1 match that I will be able to bring my 2 sons to. That will be it for me for the remainder of this season. Right now I am saying that if wenger is still in charge next season I will renew my season tickets but not attend any game unless I bringing my boys. I know ye will point out that I will still be paying out the money to the club so I should go and if I dont the club wont give a shit but travelling over from Ireland means a lot more financial outlay than just the ticket prices and these *word censored* are just not worth it anymore
The only reason I wont give up my tickets altogether is cos I have supported this club long before wenger was ever seen around these parts and I'll still be a Gooner long after he has fcuked off (the sooner the better) and then I will go back to watching a team that may not win a lot but is at least passionate about playing for the club

The match tonight was a strange experience for me, usually I have about 200-300 swears during big games like saturday (no lie  ).

Tonight was relaxed, tried to find something else to do but couldnt. Ended up watching without a single care. Got pissed off with ref because he was a wanker.

Then it got weird, by the end, I was willing the Braga attacker to stick it in the net.... :?

Felt it was a great goal, and our players needed further humiliation.

+1
Still feel empty from the weekend, and yes I got up this morning (GMT+8 ) to watch the boys in braga. My housemate came home from fishing (with nothing) and sat down to watch the second half, I said to him at the time, "you watch we'll lose this 1-nil" and sure enough...
For me we have become totally and utterly predictable, in that, if we don't score in the first half we tend not to score at all, and then go on to concede. As has been previously stated by others, I felt absolutely no emotion for this game at all  it makes me sad just typing it.

As much as i wanted not to watch last night i couldnt resist.

It must be how it feels to be a heroin addict. You know its doing you no good maybe even killing you off, youre family are suffering from your apathy and mood swings but you just cant cant resist. Then you watch it scoring another hit and realise it wasnt worth it after all  Now Villa away is calling me i dont want to watch but know i will

No matter how much The Arsenal hurt me I will still always watch them and always spend a fortune to travel over for as many games as I can afford. I can't just shut them out because they have pissed me about emotionally for a few seasons.

It was worse in the 80's. We never looked like ever doing jack shit, the scum had the flair players, we were awful to watch at times and there was no light on the horizon that any of us could see. But our mindset was different then. We took our joy from individual games; beating the scum or the mousers would keep us going for weeks afterwards. Maybe it's time for me to get back into that mid table mediocrity mindset where I don't expect us to win anything but take joy from a decent cup run (maybe even the odd cup final win!) and beating the big clubs of the day...

I know it doesn't sound great but it will keep you alive! :? :(

last night was surreal for me, it was the first time in years that i can remember that i sat dow for a game and didnt get edgy, abusive or hoping up from the sofa etc, i sat in silence for the whole game and just laughed when the second goal went in, if this is how im viewing arsenal at the moment then im getting worried that my love for the arsenal is starting to wane

I did the exact same thing, but not because my love for arsenal is waning. For me, it was pretty clear early on that the players didnt give a shit about the braga game, content to just offload the ball to the nearest arsenal player. If they have zero enthusiasm after losing to the shit then im going to reciprocate. My gf thought it was wierd, i watched 90 minutes of the arsenal and didnt make a peep except to say "that was a poor decision" at the penalty. Still wasnt enough for me to raise my voice though.

Shit week, feel a bit numb regards to football at the moment. Going to the next home game though and if there isnt a marked improvement against villa then we need to start voicing our displeasure. Starting with the wigan game.

I felt pretty good last night, got me back a right bit of love for the Arsenal.

Not through anything the gobshite players or manager did but through the actions of a 9 year old boy.

I tried to put 5 jnr to bed at half time but he started crying because he wanted to watch the rest of the game.

The cynic in me might say he just wanted to stay up late, but I don’t really believe that, his little heart was broken when he did eventually go to bed and we’d lost 2-0.
