Which would have been effectly been reduced to 5K by the tax last year.LDB wrote:I reckon jack was on something 'measley' like 10k a week under his yoof team wages.Boomer wrote:Does anyone know what he was on previously?
50K does sound alot but with the 50% tax on those earning £150K+ a year means he's only getting £25K.
We've seen wages doubled recently because of this tax rule brought in 2009.
Aren't Citeh paying nearly £200K+ a week to players like Yaya Toure which is effectively £100K+?
Jack in touble again

I don't doubt Jack's a bit lairy but i've heard he's teetotal, and his role model is Cesc while his contemporaries Theo and Gibbs etc seem 'nice' lads. Maybe there's influence outside the club but he's not in a drinking after training culture that Adams & Merson lived in. Parlour was no angel and he outlasted them all.
If it wasn't that Jack is now recognisable this season i doubt these would ever make police enquiry stage and certainly not press.
That said, the foreign boys on the whole are better behaved owing to religious and cultural attitudes to drinking and birds.

Old 'Arry's been known as a bit of a 'twitcher'.BT wrote:I don't doubt Jack's a bit lairy but i've heard he's teetotal, and his role model is Cesc while his contemporaries Theo and Gibbs etc seem 'nice' lads. I love your kind of arguement when you frankly bring fuck all to the table and just tell others to 'get a grip'.rigsby wrote:Some of the judgements of him have been quite frankly ridiculous. And for something thats not even been proven and is pretty minor. People saying this is how TA etc started? Get a grip
The points I am raising are these:-
1) Despite only being a regular memeber of the first team squad for half a season Jack is already courting controversy. First we was told he was a peacemaker in the nightclub fight by his advisors only for him to have to accept a formal caution as he was caught on CCTV throwing punches. Next he is knobbing this, that and the other and gets caught out and soon after their is a third alleged incident.
Of course the rags are going to pick up on any story they can but with regards to Wilshere they have not printed anything untrue so far. He has stupidly allowed himself to be put in the positions the media love and that is either his fault directly, the fault of those who guide him or a combination of the two.
What do I need to get a grip on with regards to that?
2) The comparisons I made with former players were just as a point of reference. There is no doubting that these were also young lads with too much money, too much time and too much ego on their hands. Whilst I am not saying that this means Jack is going to become an alcoholic, a gambler or someone that believes he can solve armed stand offsI am saying all those pitfalls lay in front of him.
You only have to watch Jack play to realise the lad has an arrogance about him. That arrogance is a huge factor in why he is such a great player at such a young age. The problems will start if that arrogance starts to run out of control and he starts to think he can pretty much do what he likes.
Yes, all teenagers, or at least most, get into a bit of shit but Jack Wilshere is not any old teenager in any normal situation. He needs to be advised properly and most of all he needs to control himself and if the confirmed stories of fighting outside clubs and fucking birds in the team hotel are anything to go by he hasn't really mastered that yet!
So where do I need to get a grip on that part?

hes 18 ffs - im 22 and over the years ive been in and around plenty of trouble or incidents such as this one with a taxi driver - not saying its right - but he is young and it happens, just like cheating on your gf at that age - he needs to be given a break - yes hes not helping himself as being in the limelight means this will be highlighted in the media (BTW lets not forget the brittish media are the biggest bunch of *word censored* in the world). JW is on of the few players in our squad that has any balls and he needs our support not us turning our nose up at him for allegedly having row a with someone.

I am not turning my nose up at him, I thank god for him daily!
I am simply saying it would be best for all concerned if he kept his head down and continued to improve at what he is already very good at.
However, I am wondering if some would give the same "give the young lad a break, he's only doing what teenagers do" excuse if he was playing for certain other clubs?
