DJ'S

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

My old mixer got trashed last nye! And being skint i ended up with a behringer djx750 for 130 quid! Its basically a copy of the pioneer bad boy, but for home use its pretty decent. Love rane mixers tho, best crossfaders and have a nice old skool feel to em. If i won the lottery id spend about 10 grand on equipment in about 5 minutes!!

Ditto. My 1210s have had beer poured in em & been dropped down the stairs. Aside from one tonearm being a bit wobbly they still work fine

Been spinning a lot more vinyl recently. CDs are cheaper & more convenient obviously but i'd forgotten how much more enjoyable it is mixing with plastic. Just a shame that all the good record shops in & around London seem to have shut down...

With the way technology has moved on I don't think there are as many courses going these days as there were 5-10 years ago when everything was vinyl. Music schools like ACM & Point Blank used to run courses with maybe 15-20 students over about 6 months where they'd cover everything from the history of various genres of dance music from Funk, Jazz, Soul right up to House, DnB, Techno etc. Then they'd have other modules running you through the equipment & the structure of music as well as the basics of beatmatching plus a little scratching & trickery. They had a lot of big names guest speakers from within the music industry too from what I heard...

A mate of mine did one in about 2002. Said it was good but didn't learn a great deal that he wouldn't have picked up himself or from friends anyway...

The best course bar none is at the ministry of sound academy. Its actually in the club and you get taught by danny rampling and ray keith!! Legends! The main room dj booth gives me a hard on!

Also theres loads of good tutorials online, search for ellaskins. He has a channel for teaching everthing starting at the basics
