For once I agree with Wenger's post game assessment. We did everything but actually score.

If we keep playing with that kind of committment then we will win most of our games. City have spent a fortune and have a great defensive set-up and an excellent goal keeper. £350m and they posed less threat to our goal than any team I've seen us play this season or last, CCup and FA Cup against championship sides included. West Ham this season were probably the most defensively minded "lets see if we can nick a point" team so far this season. They were more threatening than City last night.

What does this say about Sheik Mansour? He doesn't care about football. Love him or loathe him, at least Abramovich actually likes and understands football, has developed a love of Chelsea and sacked their best ever manager when he thought they were too boring.

And what about the number of City fans? They had the absolute minimum allocation ususlly seen for bolton, Blackburn and Wigan or those far eastern european teams in the CL. I know it was midweek but that wasn't the support of a big club. Maybe the City fans are tiring of seeing a mutli-million team of defenders.

Interesting to see the reaction of Mancini and Man City – they are extremely happy with their point and call it a “moral victoryâ€

Time wasters

Post by maddog »

Apologies if this has been mentioned but Sky News Sports screened a linking piece around a hour ago that Man C wasted 8 mins 5 seconds of the remaining 30 mins last night!

I was there and didnt really notice it at the time but when you seen the slow subs, Harts 35 second goal kick you realise they did us over really. I too sung "boring boring citeh" its just frustration coming out what really we sung was "played well result shitty"!

Anyway Newcastle away am going who's coming with me?

I agree the booing was out of frustration, but i just feel that those who did boo (i didnt), were venting their frustrastions to the wrong team.

Yes we played very well and were positive most of the game. But where we failed to break them down falls on our feet.

I wasnt frustrated by the way they played, i was frustrated with us. Yes we played well but we didnt score. The manager made some mad subs, taking walcott off for the lazy russian and bendtner on the left I found far more frustrating then citehs tactics or approach.

If we're not criticising the players or the manager, it's the fans.

FFS, of course fans booed at full time - it's not embarassing, it's frustration. Frustration that we couldn't score despite playing very well, and frustration that the richest club in the world parked the bus for 90mins and rode ther luck.

Some fans on here seem to be completely out of touch with reality.

Anyway, I'm proud of the way we played last night. Win, lose or draw, if they play with that intensity and desire, I'll back them 100%.
Excellent post.

For the first time in a long while i felt absolutely no frustration with our style of play last night despite not scoring. We mixed it up as well as we could, had a series of good shots from outside the area and carved up enough chances to have won on the game on another night.

We worked hard and kept calm in the few times that we needed to defend. I thought Koscielny suffocated tevez well for the most part apart from misjudging one in the first half. Clichy played well, song played well and crucially, we played well as a unit.

Disappointed but cant fault the players, probably would have taken a point before the game anyway. Dont really understand some of the reactions on this place i must admit.

If anything and I was more disappointed with Wengers sub choices. Changes needed to be made but the one's he choose killed our game.

I cannot understand how anyone can NOT be disappointed in only drawing a game we so dominated for so long. No matter what we would have taken before it, that was 2 points lost for me. I agree we played well but I am dissapointed with only a draw tbh.

I agree we played well overall but with the 2nd half petering out (as you said) his choice of subs and the fact we cant play any other way maybe cost us 2 points. Personally i want to win the league so im gutted we didnt win last night even though we played well

I was ofcourse disappointed since we were clearly the better side, cesc and nasri were on a different planet to anything city could muster and deserved 3 points.

The point im trying to make though is that for the first time in a long time that disappointment isnt accompanied by a sense that we didnt play as a team/work hard enough/have the right attitude.

I personally am very forgiving as long as those criteria are met, especially against a top side.

You know since we lost to them last year, City haven't scored against the current top 4 at all.
