Do this for most games i don't attend since I cancelled my Sky about 18 months back. It's not HD but its perfectly watchable, you'll get the best results using one of the Sopcast streams; either Yes Sports or FSC. There's also a stream which always has amazing picture quality but Russian/Ukrainian commentaryChippy wrote:Gonna try streaming off the internet through my lovely new TV that I got at Xmas, tonight. Has anyone done it? Does it work?

It would be interesting to see if there has been any actual study made into the likely drop in lower league attendances if 3pm PL games were to be televised. For me, if you are desperate to watch your PL team and cant go to the match, you'll find a stream anyway and thus wont go to a local lower league side. If you are a plastic Chelsea fan, I can't imagine you'd be the type to "lower yourself" to watching Rochdale and the likes, so they wouldn't go anyway. The people who attend lower league matches now are most likely the type that want to see live football and enjoy the experience of actually going to a match, and so i doubt many of them would give it up just to watch a televised game. I really can't see televising the games having that much of an effect on attendances
As mentioned, I also just feel that, whilst I am a supporter of grass roots/ lower league football and certainly dont feel that the PL is the be all and end all, I do feel that lower league clubs should just have to put up with competition. If they make their matchday experience enjoyable, people will go instead of watching a game at home. You don't see local cinemas not being allowed to screen the latest Hollywood blockbuster just because there is a local play/ independant cinema release being shown somewhere, the small local performances just have to battle for viewers, and that is exactly how it should be in football.
End of the day all clubs, even small ones, are just companies after your money, and i dont see why freedom of choice should be limited just to help keep private companies afloat. I know the argument is that local clubs are important to communities, and i agree, but if that is the case then it is up to those communities to shun TV matches and turn up to support their clubs. If they dont, why should we keep them afloat by not televising games? Make the games affordable and enjoyable and people will turn up. Clubs probably need to go part time, but if thats what it takes then fair enough- the 3pm blackout has to go, and UEFA should have fuck all say in the matter
