Emirates Stadium Possible Expansion to 100,000 Seats

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What's the point if you can't see a thing, might as well save your self the price of a season ticket because with the way things are going with the EU ruling many fans will be getting them selves foreign decoders for the armchair view not forking out £2k for a binocular view of the action
Yeah your not wrong mate. However the same could be said for the camp nou or bernabeu. Could make it one of the most impressive in terms of size as well.

How come Spurs have planned to do have seats really close to the pitch. They care about the fans thats why...
Could the club really have fitted in an extra 5,000 at the front of the stands? I sit in Row 3 and I'm not sure there is the room to do that, even if they wanted to. :?

Charlie George told me the same thing on a Legends tour.

I love the fact that fans believe we can't expand because Charlie George said so!

We probably (structually) can expand.
But can't due to planning application/restrictions.

I don't see how it can be done easily. If you expand upwards you've gotta expand outwards too which would push the footprint of the stadium right up against the train tracks on both the east & west sides making it pretty much impossible to walk all the way around the ground.

Plus i don't see how you could fit more seats in the space around the pitch without lowering the playing surface 10ft or so. I think any expansion would render the stadium looking pretty ugly, a la Old Trafford with bits tacked on here & there.

As mentioned, the best way to increase capacity would be to introduce standing or smaller seats...

I dont want it to be like the Nou Camp.

Its big enough as it is, so unless we bringing in standing or vastly cheaper tickets then no it shouldnt happen and we all no the club wont do either of those things...

Theres enough muppets there as it is anyway, I can only imagine the type it would attract if tickets were more widely available.

Spoke to the guy from McAlpines who built it. Said capacity was determined by financiers who wouldn't go beyond 60,000 as feared we couldn't fill beyond. As such, am led to believe expansion is not feasible with curent design. Sorry!

If we ever fell out of the top 4, which will happen some time, we wouldnt fill it, especially not at the current prices.

I'd like to see how many turn up to the last 64 of the Europub league against Sporting Vilnius...

Genk (Dutch: Genk, Dutch pronunciation: [ʝɛŋk]) is a city and municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg near Hasselt. The municipality only comprises the city of Genk itself. It is one of the most important industrial cities in Flanders, located on the Albert Canal, between Antwerp and Liège.
